The moon is bright and clear
Hail! Lost all you hold dear
And the stars that shine tonight
Hark! Be the one that wrong makes right
I shall be the one whom brightness rest
As one sin brings trouble lest
One could walk as far as brilliance piled
And I remember the last time I smiled

Spring comes when summer is mid-way
I stood below as one tree would sway
Gently stroking its bosom I fell
And became one flower inside a well
The face I see is in my mind
And love can be the one that will bind
We are young, reckless, and wild
And yes, that is the last time I smiled

The tree bore as many fruits
And soon, love has made deep its root
If falling is the last thing we will do
Yes, maybe we should change our view
Then we could at least make a dream
That would change all things grim
I could be your one and only bride
Maybe that will be the last time I smiled

But then, I saw you turning back
If brilliance is lost and harmony lack

Bonds go, bonds last, lies show, deceit is fast
You were gone, forget you, I must
But even the moon cannot turn back the tide
You have faded in the round, faster than a ride
Even though you swore you would be at my side
Yet you left and that is the last time I smiled

But then, I saw you turning backIf brilliance is lost and harmony lackWhat could even break a stony heartThan a fleeting soul, breaking apartBonds go, bonds last, lies show, deceit is fastYou were gone, forget you, I mustBut even the moon cannot t...

This is for another English task, this time a year later from that task I was talking about in that other collection. It's the same teacher though. This time, she gave us a list of prompts that would help us compose our poems.

One of the prompts that were there was "the last time I smiled". Of course, one would think that you would write a poem about the last time you smiled, based on your own experiences. No, your dear author just had to apply her own twist on it and there you have this poem.

I imagined a young woman on the way to the altar with the man she loved. She was happy until he left here there. And yes, that's the last time she smiled, by "last" meaning the final time.

My teacher read it and she effing smiled. I don't know if it was because of my play of words with her prompt or because I misunderstood her prompt. It's been four years now and I still don't know why she smiled back then. I never got to ask.

So, what do you think of this poem? Comment below. :)
