The clock is ticking at exactly midnight
Hours had gone by within line's sight
Minutes passed, mindlessly moving still
Seconds ran, against the absolute chill
Straight back home, I ran back then
Trying to erase those memories not easily forgotten
Wiping back tears that come again and again
Hoping every time I wouldn't be so mistaken
I tried, I swear I really did
But I feel as though I couldn't succeed
I failed to hide what I feel
And I admit that I especially lacked that skillThe clock is ticking slowly, dim and bright
Hours had gone by without the slightest respite
Minutes passed, mindlessly taking pace
Seconds ran as if trying a race
Straight back home, I fell back then
Hoping to wipe these memories that left me broken
We could have happened if you hadn't lied
So now I'm stuck here, waiting for death to reside
This world is in deep pain
Sins are nothing but an annoying stain
But we still should have been
If only we weren't so keenThe clock is ticking to admit to you're right
Hours had gone by, but no one looks blithe
Minutes passed, mindlessly walking ahead
Seconds ran, forgetting that I said instead
Straight back home, came despair
Making sweet peace pass and bitterness stare
Time and time, again and again
It's as if it's all going back to that garden
Where I stood, my face pale and ashen
Where I last saw you, I prayed I was mistaken
I dared to stay close, to hold you more
But you couldn't bear it, so you closed your doorWhere was Time whom I so much needed?
Help me turn back the tide, pain can be averted
I call upon the impossible where dark nights rise
I thought I could do anything but you proved otherwise
I can't do anything to do it over
Still, I pushed forward, to do anything in my power
But Time had other plans, other than one
He did not let me be explicitly done
The clock is ticking at exactly midnight
Hours had gone by, but there's still no light
Minutes passed, mindlessly hoping you'd turn around
Seconds ran, until I die, waiting to be foundThis is one of my favorite poems out there and I don't know why. I thought it's exactly genius to not use the title of the poem in one of the lines inside. It feels a bit disconnected to the title but it talks about time, right?
What do you think about this poem? I'd love to know. Comment below. :)
