From the clicking keys to the blinking lights
To the fading chorus of the folding blinds
Lights blared, lights seemed to fade
Screaming colors of black and blue, every shade
Dreaming hues of yellow and white instantly laid
Lying tints of red and pink have willingly swayed
But the tinge of hatred, of bitterness still
Are the ones that caused me to suddenly feel
The yelling voices that continue to shout
The screaming colors of black and blue made the sound

Changing patterns like interlocking ways
Stilling the broken reds and blues, or so he says
Fighting the tide of both orange and green
Defying wishes all but lost its sheen
Greedy tinge of beige and peach
Loving hatred  of who knows but each
Lyrical nonsense of the screaming purple
All but dead in the eyes of a noble
Dying pain of all shades of white
From white to dark, the sun sets despite

'Nonsense, nonsense,' they screamed
All too well, I heard, and back I reared
Fetching ways on how to stay quiet
Watching the darting navy blue until sunset
Mauve waves of yellow shine too deep
Deeper than the love pink and orange has to give
'Nonsense, nonsense,' they fell
Like waves of harsh vanilla white turned swell
'Nonsense, nonsense,' onward they go
Marching, folding, eyes closed—because I said so

What do the screaming hues of bitterness and happiness mean?
Why don't you close your eyes and see the darkness within
Black and white, shone all but too bright
Silence these shouting colors begging for light
The darkness erupted, happiness is all but forgotten
Hatred of blue and red, hateful and ill-driven
'Nonsense, nonsense,' your mind shuts down
Close your eyes to sleep and hear the rushing sound
Of the screaming colors of black and blue
All but nowhere near to say 'I love you'

What do the screaming hues of bitterness and happiness mean? Why don't you close your eyes and see the darkness withinBlack and white, shone all but too brightSilence these shouting colors begging for lightThe darkness erupted, happiness is all but...

This was for an English task, again. This time, the topic is gerunds and we were supposed to pass something with examples of them. I wrote the first stanza and called it day.

Months later, I got the random idea to turn it into a longer poem and add it to my notebook of official poetry. When I first tried adding to it, I found it hard. In my mind, it's already finished (even though I don't know it means), and adding to it would only make it worse.

But I pushed through with it because I was bored enough at school. And you have this poem right here.

Still don't know what that means, though.

I tried making one of my classmates interpret it for me and they ended up confusing themselves too.

I'm gonna have to make you try it too. Comment below and help me decipher this poem because I have been asking myself for years.
