Later that night across the city in Buckhead Atlanta Monty was yet again trying to get through to Nina. One missed call turned into over a hundred over the past few weeks.

The thought of Mari being back in Aloras care did cross his mind but soon left when he visited the Lake House and there was no sign of a break in or struggle. The only thing that made since was Nina taking him and leaving but why he wondered.

"Relax. I'm sure their safe." Mona attempted to ease his mind. She rubbed at his shoulders from behind as he tossed his phone across the couch.

"They better be." He huffed, sinking into her touch. "I can't get out of the city until I have my son. I'm not leaving him behind." he said, followed by taking a swig of a beer.

"Wait," Mona stopped rubbing his shoulders then lent her upper body over the back of the couch. "So you wanna be chased down like an animal and eliminated? Because that's exactly whats going to happen."

The stories she had heard about The Diamonds were becoming an reality, her reality to be more specific. Although she was sure Rome knew nothing of her involvement it was only a matter of time before he did Mona be lying if she said it didn't scare her but it was to late to back out now.

He lent forward, glancing back at Mona wearing a frowned. "What type of man would I be to just leave my son for another man to raise?"

I mean it wasn't like you were playing ya part anyway she thought back to the few conversations she over heard between Safir and Rome. But her lips said. "You know it's nothing to get custody especially for someone as papered up as you are. Sometimes the courts the only way to go."

"I don't know. I never thought I'd have much success going that route." he shrugged.

"Why wouldn't you? It's rare black men fight for custody because many are okay settling for weekend visitation at the least. But if a judge see you trying I'm sure they'll give you a shot." she encouraged.

"Plus you money and influence. I'm sure you could've greased a few palms to win ya case."

"Maybe on my tuff, Atlanta not Philly. That's the Diamonds playground."

Mona smacked her lips, rolling her eyes. "I'm tired of everyone giving that family so much credit. I'll be glad the day someone knock them on their asses." she hissed.

Monty started to speak but the sound of the front door opening put him on guard. He reached for the gun placed under the couch cushions then aimed it at the doorway as he stood to his feet.

He walked around the couch, inching towards the hallway. He dropped his hand once he saw the person. "Ma?"

"Good to know your on ya ps and qs with the Diamonds on ya ass," Laura pointed to the gun that was now at her sons side. "But sad to see you've linked up with Romes ex," she locked eyes with Mona who head dropped instantly. Laura made her nervous as hell.

"Let me guess Rome is more interested in Alora these days so your trying to get back at her by fucking her baby daddy?"

"Ma seriously!" Monty palmed his head, slightly embarrassed. "You don't even know her."

"Monty I know every fucking thing!" she shouted, pointer finger stabbing at his forehead. His eyes focused in on her hand. It was wrapped up but he could see that her middle, ring and pinky fingers were missing.

Tears began to swell in the rim of eyes. Alora really harmed his mother. He had been praying maybe it was a hoax, she was just fucking with him to get what she wanted. But seeing his mother hand in person gave him an unexplainable feeling. He felt a burning sensation in his chest as it caught fire, the lump in his throat prevented any words to exit his lip.
