Eight months later

Alissa's POV

"My little boy, let's eat some chocolate." I said softly, stroking my swollen bump gently and went to the kitchen.

When I was about to walk in, I stopped as I heard the maids' conversation.

"Fortunately, nothing happened to Marcus." One of them, Amanda said.

What?

Marcus wasn't in the palace

Marcus wasn't in the palace. He had to attend the event this morning.

"Yes, if Tony didn't push him when he noticed the gun..." Another one, Marissa commented, horrified. "Probably, they would kill him."

My heart tightened as I heard what they told. Oh my goodness! Marcus. A tight knot formed in my throat. My legs started trembling.

"What happened to Marcus?" I asked, frightened as I barged in.

"Your Highness." They bowed to me and gave each other a nervous look.

"What happened to Marcus?" I repeated as my eyes welled up.

"Umm..."

"Answer me!" I demanded as tears ran down my cheeks.

I leaned my hand against the wall as my head spun.

"Your Highness!" Amanda caught me instantly. Both of them were looking at me, worried.

"Your Highness, sit down, please." Marissa suggested.

"No!" I shook my head, crying. "Please, tell me. What happened to Marcus?" I asked in fear.

"Someone tried to shoot him." Marissa replied, giving me a worried look.

"Is...is he fine?" I mumbled. My voice was barely audible.

Please, be fine, Marcus. Please.

"Yes, he is fine. Don't worry. Fortunately, Tony pushed him and stood in front of him, protecting him. But Tony...he got injured." She informed.

"Oh my..."

Suddenly, I heard the news on TV. They showed the scenes from today. I gasped, covering my mouth with my hand as I looked at the news. It was horrifying.

"I...I need to call Marcus." I mumbled and wanted to go to my room where my phone was.

I need to hear his voice. I need to be sure that he is really fine.

Suddenly, I felt dizzy.

"Your Highness!" Marissa exclaimed in panic.

"Please, sit down. I will bring the phone." Amanda pleaded.

I nodded. My legs were trembling.

Amanda rushed to bring me my phone.

Suddenly, I felt a sharp pain in my stomach.
