That night, Benny walked into my bedroom while I was sitting on the edge of my bed.

"Hey Y/n, how do you feel?" he asked, sitting down next to me.

I sighed, "I'm fine, thanks for asking."

"Are you sure? Because if you need someone to talk to, I'm here for you," he says, placing his hand on my thigh.

"Not sure, I'm just mad at myself," I admitted.

"Why?" he asked.

"I didn't tell anyone about her alcohol addiction, and I should've. If I did, she would've been alive right now," I explained.

"It's not your fault, her responsibilities aren't yours," he said.

"I know, I just have a weird feeling in my stomach that I didn't do the right thing," I mumbled.

He took a deep breath. "When my dad died, I also felt guilty. The day before he asked me to practice baseball with him and I said no because I had homework. That night, he died in his sleep. I'm scared for that to happen to me or anyone I love, especially you. I also felt like I should've spent my last moments with him just playing baseball, that was the only thing he liked."

I sat there in shock, I felt so sorry for him. "I'm sorry for your loss," I say, "that's really sad."

He nods his head. "Yeah, I know," he said, almost breaking down into tears. "Sometimes, I'm too scared to fall asleep because I might end up like him."

I sighed, "I don't know, we shouldn't worry about it too much. Let's just enjoy our lives while it lasts."

He shook his head, agreeing with me. "Yeah," he mumbled.

I glanced at all the stuff in the room. "Your dad seemed like a huge fan of the Dodgers," I say, turning my head over to Benny, "just like you."

"Father like son, am I right?" he chuckled.

"Kinda," I said.

"Believe it or not, when my dad died, I stopped playing baseball for like a whole month," he said.

I gasped, "No way."

"Yeah, it reminded me of him," he explained.

I laughed. "Isn't that obvious?"

He sighed. "Y/n, do you mind if I sleep here with you tonight? I haven't been in this room for a while because it made me feel mixed emotions, you know?"

I smiled and said, "Of course."

I closed the door, turned off the lights, then turned on the lamp. We both tucked into bed and then he wrapped his arms around me.

"Goodnight," he whispered.

"Goodnight."
