I'm not sure why
It's been almost a year
Days and weeks and months
Bleed together
Time and space and purpose
Loose their meaning
When I've no one left to love
Too many lonely nights
Spent warding off dreams
And chasing shadows
You are the destination
I can never seem to reach
For when I grasp
You're always gone
As if you had never been here
What is a shadow
But a negative
Created by the backdrop of the sun
Not real itself
But a whisper of what once was
How sad, then, to be chasing air
But as it's all I have left
I'll spend the rest of my days and nights
