School was such a bore that I almost died. I had no idea why I had to go to school because it wasn't like I had to find a job or be employed somewhere like a "normal" human.

I technically had a job, which was being the Beta Female and then the queen once my father took back the throne and then stepped down after how many years he wanted to reign.

Heck, I didn't even think Axel had a college degree, which was something that I couldn't help but wonder because he never talked about school or what he normally did at the house when he had been alone without me to bug him.

A loud clatter of a dish against the table stirred me out of my thoughts, and I looked up to see a pair of blue eyes sitting at the table with a pair of brown eyes standing behind them.

The person that held the blue eyes smirked, and I rolled my eyes and scowled at the person. "Hiya, Liz," my best friend said in a "cheerful" voice. "Aren't you just peachy today?"

"Very funny, Hay," I said and stabbed at my food. I wrinkled my nose in disgust when it made a squishing sound when I took the fork out, deciding it would be a good thing to stay away from the mystery meatloaf because there was no way in hell it would be good on my stomach. "Are you going to sit down, too, Chris, or are you going to stand there?" I asked and looked at my other best friend with a raised eyebrow.

"Stand here," Chris replied and gripped the tray tighter but still stood in his spot. He looked around before he looked at me. Nervousness and worry filled my eyes, and I couldn't help but mentally roll my eyes at him because I did not know why he was always this nervous. "Why did you go with the meatloaf again?" he asked, changing the subject.

I wrinkled my nose in disgust and stabbed it again with my fork, pulling my gaze off of him and towards it. I wrinkled my nose further when it again made a squishing sound, and my stomach decided to twist into knots. "I don't know," I said, finally. "I wasn't thinking."

"Oh, we know," Hailey said, and she smiled when I scowled at her. "If you did, then we wouldn't be having this conversation."

"And I wouldn't have to be you bringing you food so that you can eat," someone said from behind me, and I turned around to see a male with green eyes staring at me with two trays in his hands.

The male smiled and bowed his head in respect since I was the new Beta Female. "Liz," he said and set the tray in front of me before he walked over to his mate.

"Oh, thank Goddess," I breathed a sigh of relief to see that it was pizza, and the knots loosened before it grumbled. "Thanks, Richie." I took a big bite of the pizza, and Hailey snickered. "I oth yov," I said with my mouth full.

Chris pecked his mate's lips before he sat down with Richie sitting next to him. He started to eat, and I could tell that he was in heaven.

"You always owe me," Richie said and winked while I rolled my eyes at him. He shook his head and cleared his throat. "Anyway, how is being mated?" He raised an eyebrow in question while he kept his voice soft.

I shrugged. "Good," I said and took another bite of my pizza. "But going to school while your mate doesn't suck."

Chirs snorted and rolled his eyes, and I bit back a scowl because I had no idea what he meant by that. "That is what happens when your mate is twelve years your senior," he replied. "Of course, he doesn't have to go to school."

"What is he even doing now?" Hay asked. She sent a scowl towards Chris before she looked at me, curiosity shining in her eyes. "Is he sleeping or what?"

I shrugged and pulled out my phone before I sent him a text, wondering what he was doing and for him to pay attention to me because I was bored. "I hope not," I said and looked at her, praying that he would answer. "I know that his mom had taken Paige out for a while. I think she is taking her shopping."
