There was a knock on the front door that had Harrison, Colton, and I looking at it with each of us staring at it with tense gazes because we weren't expecting anyone else to be at the door so soon.

The others stayed silent and looked at each other and then at the door before Nila cleared her throat and shifted as if she was about to stand. "I-"

"Don't," Harrison said, interrupting her before he stood, and I stood as well with Colton following us not too long after. He looked at us, more importantly me, before he set his jaw but didn't say a word.

"We're going to go check," I said and looked at Nila, offering her a tight smile. I tucked my head closer to my chest while I stared at her, silently telling her to relax and stay seated. "Ok? We'll be fine."

Nila frowned and looked at Harrison before she looked at me again. Worry flickered through her eyes, and she cocked her head, studying me. "Are you sure?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

I bit back a small chuckle and slowly nodded in confirmation. "Yes," I said. "We are three strong men. We can take care of ourselves." I flashed her a small smirk and winked before I looked at Harrison and raised an eyebrow in question. "Can't we?"

Harrison held back an eye roll but nodded with a small scowl on his face. "We can," he confirmed before he gave me a pointed look, silently telling me that he didn't want me to go over there but wasn't going to fight because he knew that I wasn't going to listen to him.

I breathed a small sigh of relief and nodded, slowly relaxing because I had a feeling that he was going to try but wouldn't actually do it.

There was another knock on the door, and we looked at the door again before we looked at each other again.

Colton cleared his throat and shifted on his feet. "Well, let's go ahead and go see who is there," Colton said. "Do you have any ideas?"

Harrison shrugged and grimaced but started to walk to the door with me following him and then Colton taking up the rear.

"I have one," I said, and Harrison paused mid step and looked at me with a raised eyebrow, waiting for me to tell him who I thought was at the door. "Terrence."

Harrison blinked and blinked again and stayed silent before he started to walk toward the door again. He cocked his head a little, and I could tell that he wanted to know why I thought it would be him and not someone else, especially since he was the Beta of the pack and had duties that he needed to do and accomplish.

"Well, he did want to talk to me and wanted to come by later on today," I said while I shrugged and grimaced, "when I got settled in and everything."

Harrison slowly nodded and pressed his lips into a thin line. "True," he said and cleared his throat. He looked at Colton, and Colton raised an eyebrow in question while he waited for him to say something. "Can you see if it is him?" he asked and raised an eyebrow in question, and Colton smiled apologetically and shook his head.

The Warrior scowled and narrowed his eyes, his eyes flashing, and Colton hesitated before he bowed his head, not able to meet Harrison's gaze any longer. "And why not?" he asked, his voice dark and filled with warning.

"Because they don't like us to contact each other through our mind link, Sir," Colton replied, his voice barely above a whisper before he cleared his throat again, and we looked at each other before we looked at him again. "The Alpha thinks that we... will plot against him if we contact each other..."

"Colton!" Sabrina hissed from where she was located still on the couch. "Please!"

I furrowed my brows and cocked my head, looking at him, and Colton stared at us with wide eyes, his face pale. "What do you mean?" I asked and raised an eyebrow in question, the urge to protect them against Warren growing stronger with each passing second. "Why would he think that you would be plotting against him?"

Colton hesitated and shook his head. He didn't say a word about what he meant, and I couldn't help but wonder if it was because of his kids and mate being in the next room over.

"Hmph," Harrison said and scowled. He looked at me and raised an eyebrow, and I could tell that he wanted me to find out from Terrance why the Alpha was afraid of them mindlinking each other and why they would be plotting against him when we talked.

I set my jaw and nodded, not saying a word.

Again, there was another knock on the door, this time becoming more frantic than the rest as if the person thought something bad had happened to us because no one had opened the door quickly.

Harrison picked up his pace and reached the door with us following him close behind. He opened it midknock without asking who it was, and thankfully, it was Terrence, and he paused mid strike and stared at Harrison with wide eyes, his face pale and eyes filled with worry.

"Oh, thank Goddess," he said, his voice barely above a whisper before he cleared his throat and lowered his hand. "Is everyone safe?" he asked. "Why did it take you a while to answer the door?"

"Everyone is safe," Harrison said and nodded in confirmation before he cleared his throat and moved out of the way so that Terrence could enter. "I do apologize for not answering the door sooner. Please, forgive me." He didn't answer why it took us so long to answer the door, the urge to protect the others in the house strong.

Terrence nodded and stepped inside the Waters's house, not asking Harrison why it had taken him so long to the door. "I do," he said before he cleared his throat and grew serious. "I am glad that you are all safe and sound." He looked at me before he looked at Harrison.

"Hmph." He set his jaw and narrowed his eyes before he looked at me from the corner of his eye and then looked at Terrence, again. "Are you here because you still wanted to talk to Axel?" he asked and gestured to me.

Terrence looked at me before he looked at Harrison again, making sure that his face was blank. "Yes," he confirmed and nodded. "I would like to talk to him alone." He looked at me and cleared his throat again, shifting on his feet. "If that is ok with you?" He raised an eyebrow in question.

I nodded in confirmation, clearing my throat and pressing my lips into a thin line. "That is fine," I said. "Where would you like to talk?" I asked and cocked my head, studying him with a raised eyebrow in question.

Terrence hesitated before he looked at Colton. "Is it ok if we talk in your office?" he asked and raised an eyebrow in question, and Colton instantly nodded in confirmation.

"You can," Colton confirmed before he cleared his throat and shifted on his feet, growing serious. "Harrison and I will continue to watch the movie, correct?" he asked and raised an eyebrow in question while he looked at Harrison.

Harrison set his jaw and narrowed his eyes. He didn't say a word while he looked between the two of us before he bit back a small sigh and nodded, relenting. "Ok," he said before he cleared his throat and shifted on his feet while he looked at me. "Go ahead."

Terrence pressed his lips into a thin line and nodded. He looked at Harrison before he looked at me. "Ok," he said and nodded again. "Let's go." He started to walk towards the office, and I glanced at Harrison before I followed him.

I didn't say a word while we walked towards Colton's office, and Terrence didn't say a word either.

However, that didn't stop him from looking back at me to make sure that we weren't being followed by Harrison for some reason and making sure that I was still following him.

I didn't say a word and slowly blinked and raised an eyebrow in question, and Terrence smiled sadly and shook his head, silently telling me that he wasn't going to say a word to me until we reached the safety of Colton's office and behind closed walls.

I breathed an annoyed sigh and slowly nodded, pressing my lips into a thin line and not saying a word, and Terrence seemed to relax a little before he turned his attention back to the way we were going.

Goddess, please keep me safe, I silently prayed, not knowing what was going on with this man before me and why he wanted to speak to me privately.

Please...
