I'm at her side immediately, trying to stay as calm as possible. "Okay. Okay just stay calm, angel. My car's right there. You see it?"

"Uh, yeah..." I'm helping her get into my car and do my best to drive away as soon as possible. "You okay. Are you in pain?"

"No. I'm okay, ah!" She clutches the bottom of her stomach with her right hand and suddenly grabs mine that is positioned on the middle console, squeezing it as if her life depends on it.

And I squeeze it back. Not as hard as she does but just to show her that I am here. That I'm right here with her. That I'll never be anywhere else again.

The drive took us teenty-five minutes to be exact. Her contractions got worse and more hurtful by every minute.

She managed to get herself out of the car and walked over to me as fast as she could, falling into my arms as soon as she is close enough. There are already several nurses running out of the building, helping us. They must have noticed us because I parked my car directly in front of the entrance.

"Ma'am can we help you?" A little older nurse placed her hand on her back, rubbing circles over it. "Her water broke like half an hour ago." They take her from out of my arms, letting her body lean against theirs.

"Thank you for bringing her, sir." She says as they start walking her into the hospital. Delilah looks back at me over her shoulder, and it seems she doesn't want to go. "He can't come?" She asks almost panicking.

The woman turns around to me and then looks over at my woman. "You know this man?" She asks her, and receives a quick nod from her. "I do. He's the father. He has to come."

And in this moment, a younger doctor comes out, looking almost shocked as he sees me. "Carol that's Mr. and Mrs. Travino." She says.

Mrs. Travino...

"Who?" The older one asks. "Never mind. Please get them in the fourth room." Is the last thing he says before he disappears in the building again.

Delilah doesn't move an inch before I take the firsg steps towards her. And now we're walking. Into a new adventure.

We're going to meet our daughter.

____

It's been hours since we arrived here. We're in the delivery room, as they do their best to get her out this way. Baby Gianna is in a breech position. That's why there might be a c-section necessary.

Delilah is sweating on her whole body, holding onto me even tighter with every new contraction. And then an even stronger one comes. "Just breathe through it, angel."

And she does. She tries to control her breathing. But she's in so much pain. The doctor has left the room two minutes ago and is right now coming back in.

"We're really sorry, but there is no other way to get this baby out than with a c-section." He announced.
That's exactly what she didn't want. And she still doesn't want it.

"No. No. No, Mason please. Please tell them. I can have her this way. I can do this. Please tell them I don't want a c-section." She begs me. I see how scared she is because of this.

So I wipe my thumb over her damp cheeks and look up to the doc. "There isn't a chance for her to have her naturally?"

The doctor looks up at me as he removes the brakes of the bed she's laying on. "A natural birth would need too much energy for both of them. If we don't do this, there might be a chance of loosing both of them."

And as soon as he said that, there wasn't a chance for me arguing with her about this. I can't bear loosing someone again. Not one of these two or even both of them. "I'm sorry angel." I say as I kiss her forehead and walk outside the room with the others.

The nurses sent me to a room where I have to put on some clothes over my normal one, because of hygiene reasons in the surgery room where they just brought her in.

I'm in the clothes in a minute so I can finally go in to her. There is a bigger cloth adjusted in front of her belly so we can't see what they do.

I'm sitting next to Delilah's head, holding her hands and kissing them after some time.

And not even long after, baby cries are everywhere in the room.

October, 24th, 9:17 p.m.

Gianna is here.

I woke up to a strange feeling in my lower stomach and as I open my eyes, I probably witness the most beautiful, heart warming thing.

Mason is standing in front of the window to my room, the sun already rising with our daughter in his arms. At the beginning of my pregnancy, he told me he read an article that you can build a better connection with your child when you cuddle them shirtless.

I guess this is the reason why he's not wearing one. He rocks her around in slow movements. She whines a little bit because of whatever reason but he handles it so well.

"Shhh... We have to be quiet, baby. We don't want your mommy to wake up, do we?" He's talking to her as if he would think about getting an answer from her and then leans his arms a little up to carefully connect his forehead to hers,

"I love you two so, so much. Dad promises that he will fix this, okay? I promise, Gigi." I'm not able to hold back my small sobs at this.

And I suddenly get his attention. "Hey.. are you in pain? Do you need something?" I need you.

"Why did you do it?" I ask that question more to myself than to him.... I just want to understand.

And in that moment, just when he was about to respond, the door opened and my family was in the room.
