The screen lit up again, but before that Lily and James were talking "ok so we need to get her to divorce that little assassin" "but how?" questioned James, little did they know Wanda was listening. She promised herself to tell Clint. Everyone sat down, Natasha resting her head on Clint's shoulder knowing what was coming, knowing that it was Civil war the thing that nearly destroyed their marriage.
[1991, a HYDRA base in a snowy landscape. A man enters a bunker and removes a red book marked with a black star.]
Bucky flinched as did Steve and Tony no-one knew why and exchanged curious looks.
[A technician raises a cylindrical chamber, revealing Bucky Barnes, aka the Winter Soldier.][Bucky Barnes is secured in a chair, a mechanical device either side of his head causing him to scream in pain.]
Everyone looked away not wanting to see him in pain again not after the winter soldier.
Vasily Karpov: [speaking Russian] Желание. Ржавый. Семнадцать. Рассвет. Печь. Девять. Добросердечный. Возвращение на родину. Один. Грузовой вагон. ([subtitled] Longing. Rusted. Seventeen. Daybreak. Furnace. Nine. Benign. Homecoming. One. Freight car.) Доброе утро, Солдат. ([subtitled] Good morning, Soldier.)
"What are those?" asked Luna as Bucky covered his ears "codewords" replied Natasha darkly, knowing whatever was inside her was still there. Clint kissed the top of her head as Lily and James frowned, they needed to talk to Molly about it but they knew she would agree anyway.
[Bucky hesitates]
Tony looked at the screen interested, the hesitation confused Tony, he thought Barnes just complied. Now Tony knew, he was going to get whatever it was out of Barnes head no-matter the cost.
Bucky Barnes: Я готов отвечать. ([subtitled] Ready to comply.)
Natasha buried her head in Clint's chest to hide her tears knowing he wouldn't tell because she went through that exact same thing, codewords, not having her own mind, she knew better than most.
Vasily Karpov: У меня есть для тебя миссия. Санкционируй и Извлекай. Без свидетелей.([subtitled] I have a mission for you. Sanction and extract. No witnesses.)"Sorry" said Bucky to Tony, who nodded in response "why is he sorry?" asked Sam missing out on everything that happened after the airport battle. "Doesn't matter" said Steve.[Night. A car is driving down a dirt road alone. The Winter Soldier is waiting at the side of the road with his motorcycle. As the car passes, the Winter Soldier follows. He comes alongside the car and disables it. It slams into a tree. The Winter Soldier brings the motorcycle back around and climbs off. He walks to the car trunk and rips it open, revealing a silver case containing several blue packets]Tony flinched he knew that car well too well.[Back at the HYDRA base]Vasily Karpov: Отлично, Солдат. ([subtitled] Well done, Soldier.)
[We are now at the Avengers compound outside, Natasha is looking in through the window when Tony steps out]
Natasha frowned at both Steve and Tony blaming them for nearly destroying her marriage both men flinched and then Natasha buried her head again.
Tony Stark: Romanoff, glad you could come
Natasha Romanoff: (glaring) I'd rather go waterskiing in the Alps with Clint and the kids
Steve perked up Clint told him that he was supposed to go waterskiing with the kids without a mention of Natasha meaning he knew where she was the whole time and didn't stop her thinking he wouldn't have to get involved.
[Tony held his hands up in defence and walked inside.]
Tony Stark: You're going to Lagos with Rogers, Maximoff and Wilson to stop...
"How did you know?" asked Sam, Natasha raised her head and smirked "my secret" she said and buried it again.
[Natasha interrupted]
Natasha Romanoff: Crossbones yep and you're going to be a meeting thingy, still rather do water skiing in the Alps
Tony Stark: How'd you know?
"the surprise" laughed Ginny as Molly began conversing with Lily and James in low whispers which Wanda made sure she could hear.
Natasha Romanoff: I have my ways Stark
[We are now in Lagos]
