Two days had passed since Ashley returned to Forks, finding solace in the tranquility of the woods where she now resided in her own little house. Today, she had set out to visit her adoptive father, Charlie Swan, and her adoptive younger sister, Bella Swan, eager to reconnect with her family after her time away.
As Ashley drove towards Charlie's house, she couldn't help but notice another dwelling nestled amidst the trees. Surprised by the presence of neighbors in the secluded woods, Ashley felt a sense of excitement at the prospect of having company nearby, though she continued on her way without stopping to investigate further.
Arriving at Charlie's house, Ashley parked her car and made her way to the front door, only to find Billy Black's car parked alongside. Before she could ring the doorbell, the door swung open, revealing Jacob on the other side.
"Jacob!" Ashley exclaimed, her voice filled with delight.
Jacob's eyes widened in surprise and joy as he greeted her. "You're back!" he exclaimed, his excitement palpable.
"I'm back!" Ashley confirmed, sharing in Jacob's enthusiasm. She couldn't help but notice how much he had grown since the last time she had seen him, towering over her now with his newfound height.
Their reunion was interrupted by Charlie's approach, and the sight of Ashley standing on his doorstep brought a smile to his face as he enveloped her in a warm hug.
"What are you doing back in Forks?" Charlie asked, his curiosity piqued.
Ashley explained her decision to return, sharing her plans to settle in the woods and pursue a job opportunity at the hospital, where she had an interview scheduled for later that day.
"I'm glad you're back," Charlie said sincerely, his words filled with warmth.
Ashley returned the sentiment, expressing her own joy at being back in Forks. She inquired about Bella's whereabouts, only to learn that she was at the Cullens' house.
Curious, Ashley asked Jacob about the Cullens, unaware of Bella's relationship with Edward. Jacob filled her in on the details, mentioning Edward as Bella's boyfriend.
Ashley couldn't hide her surprise. "Bella never told me she had a boyfriend," she admitted, feigning hurt as she placed a hand over her heart in jest.
As their conversation continued, Ashley noticed the time and realized she needed to leave for her job interview. With a hint of panic, she bid farewell to Charlie, Jacob, and Billy, promising to catch up with them soon before hastily driving off towards the hospital.
As she navigated the familiar streets of Forks, Ashley couldn't shake the feeling of excitement mingled with apprehension. Returning home had brought unexpected surprises and reunions, but it also marked the beginning of a new chapter in her life—one filled with uncertainty and possibility.
