As Ashley and Carlisle entered the throne room, they were met with the expectant gaze of Aro, Caius, and Marcus. Aro's voice broke the silence, his tone polite yet probing. "Good morning, did you sleep well, Ashley?"
Ashley offered a warm smile in response. "I slept great, thank you," she replied, her voice laced with sincerity.
Carlisle draped his arm around Ashley's shoulders, a silent gesture of support as they prepared for the conversation ahead. "What did you want to talk about?" Carlisle inquired, his tone calm yet attentive.
Aro's piercing gaze fell upon Ashley, his curiosity evident in his expression. "How did Ashley know what Marcus's gift was?" he questioned, his voice tinged with intrigue.
Ashley took a deep breath, gathering her thoughts before speaking. "It's quite simple, but at the same time, I don't fully understand it myself," she began, her words measured and thoughtful. "The thing is, I just know. When I'm around someone, I can sense their supernatural nature. Whether they're human, vampire, witch, or shape-shifter, it's as if their essence speaks to me, and I instinctively recognize it."
Caius frowned, his skepticism evident as he interjected. "That doesn't explain how you knew about Marcus's gift," he pointed out, his voice tinged with suspicion.
Ashley nodded, acknowledging Caius's question. "If a vampire uses their gift, an aura appears around them," she explained, her voice gaining confidence with each word. "Marcus always emits this aura, whether he intends to or not. And when I see that aura, I automatically know what their gift is. It's as if the information is imprinted upon me, a part of my innate understanding."
As Ashley finished speaking, a thoughtful silence settled over the room, each member of the Volturi considering her words carefully. In that moment, Ashley realized that despite the complexities of their supernatural world, sometimes the answers were simpler than they appeared. And as she stood alongside Carlisle, facing the enigmatic leaders of the Volturi, she knew that they were one step closer to unlocking the mysteries of their intertwined destinies.
