Chapter 34: Oh Hi, 'Buddy'

"Mia... Hey, Mia."

Grumbling profanities to myself I look over at Scott who is now sitting opposite me, "What?"

"All I can smell right now is chicken," He paused before looking at me with an accusing look. "Are you eating anything?"

I froze, slowly moving the chip packet from under the table to behind my back. Stupid werewolf senses.

"No, must be from the cafeteria or something." I shrugged innocently.

Stiles scoffed from beside me, "Yeah, that explains why even I can smell it. And who even eats chicken flavoured chips?"

Narrowing my eyes at him I pull a chip out of the packet, putting one in my mouth obnoxiously. "I do, obviously."

He gives me a look making me sigh, but carry on eating. This time I don't even bother hiding the packet.

I look around the room and see Erica sat on her own, doodling something in a small pink notebook. Then Allison awkwardly sat with Jackson and Matt, who are just sat in silence while Matt himself eats some chips too.

"I have to go to the bathroom." I hear Jackson announce, making us all turn to look at him.

Do we all really need to know that? Couldn't he just... go?

"Are you all right? Hey, you don't look so good." Harris asks Jackson in a concerned tone, moving from the desk he was sat at and over to Jackson.

And since when was Harris ever concerned for anyone? I send Stiles a look of disbelief, waving my arms at Harris. "He's nice now? He never asked how I was when I got out of hospital!" I whisper/shouted.

"Maybe because Coach told everyone what you said it was like." He mumbled back.

I open my mouth to respond but shrug it off, Coach is basically the school gossiper so I don't actually know why I told him anything. But I think he might be my favorite teacher too... We just click. So maybe that's why.

"I just need to get some water." Jackson practically groaned, stumbling out of the room. Harris going to follow straight after him.

"No one leaves their seats." Sending us all a pointed look, to which I sent him a thumbs up and a nod before he left.

As soon as he leaves the room Stiles and Scott run over to Erica's table and pulling up chairs beside her making me sit awkwardly on my own, looking over at them.

Stiles looks over at me, clearly noticing I didn't follow and waves me over. I groan standing up and stomp my feet over to them, glaring at Erica's amused look.

I pull out a chair and sit down on it with a huff.

"What are we doing over here? I was perfectly fine sitting over there." I whine, lightly slapping Stiles in the shoulder.

"Erica," He says giving her a look making her raise an eyebrow, "-knows how Jackson's parents died."

She simply just shrugs. "Maybe."

"Talk." Scott glares at her, making me look at him with a new-found respect.

McCall is tougher than I thought, maybe he is losing the Puppy and actually being the wolf in him now.

Who am I kidding, he'll always be the Puppy.

Erica sighed before looking at us all, "It was a car accident. My dad was the insurance investigator, and every time he sees Jackson drive by in his Porsche, he makes some comment about the huge settlement he'll be getting when he's 18."
