Hey guys and welcome to our third issue of Wattmag and booyyy is a lot of stuff happening this month. 

First of all, this month we're going to be tackling some very important issues that are going on in our world today. It was partially inspired by this video I watched a few months back by Project Everyone:

What I love about it is that it doesn't just tackle first world feminism, it explores many of the other problems women all around the world face like being denied an education and being forced into child marriages. 

After watching this, I took a moment to ask "What can we, as a literary magazine, do to help with this campaign?" 

Then I realized we have a very important platform. Women are represented in many different ways in the media and also in literature. So this month, I want to talk about strong female characters and how you can avoid creating ones that can easily be objectified. 

And we're not just talking about the badass Katniss Everdeen and Tris Prior type of girls - we're also talking about the Malala Yousafzai type of girls who continue to inspire us every day. We want to make strong female characters from every kind of situation, race, and background  - whether be dystopian or even romance. 

The kind of people and characters that we'd want our own daughters to read about and have as role models. People who are strong and will fight for what they believe in. The people with kind hearts who want everyone to be viewed as equal. The ones that won't allow themselves or others to be disrespected or put down simply because of their gender. 

So in this issue, we'll be delving a little deeper into that and hopefully giving you guys some inspo and information on how to make sure your female leads are shown in the best light possible.

With that happening, I thought it would be great for us all to explore self-publishing a little further in this issue by talking about what it is and how YOU (yes, you reading this) can even have your own books up on sites like Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Kobo, Apple ect. for sale. I got your back with an article that should help you publish your books completely FO FREEE because I know we're not all millionaires.
