Chapter 12

"YOU MUST BE Luna? Lance's chic, right?"

"I'm Clifford Lopez. Kaibigan ako nina Lance. It's nice to finally meet you." Even with the warmest of smiles that he could give, I just responded to him with a small smile. Of course, I know this man.

He chuckled when he didn't hear anything from me. "If you're thinking that Lance might get jealous if he sees you talking to me, no worries, luv. I got your back." Tapos ay kumindat pa ito sa akin.

I can hear an accent on the way he spoke and his features also show that he has a foreign blood. He has dark eyes and a pointed nose. He also has a perfect jawline that girls might drool over. He probably grew up abroad also, considering the story that Lance told me about that Clifford came from a prominent and wealthy family.

Baka magselos 'yon kapag nakita niyang kinakausap mo ako."

"I don't think so, luv. But that doesn't mean that I should give up."

I did my best to stop myself from laughing but I just failed.

I had to look away from him because I keep on laughing at him. When I glanced back at him, he seems to already figure out why I am laughing.

He was shaking his head at kahit siya ay natatawa na rin. "It must be my Tagalog accent," he said. I nodded as an answer while trying to get a hold of myself. Tama na, Luna, nakakahiya na sa tao.

"Xavier has been teasing me about it also so it's fine." Then Clifford just shrugged. "But I'm trying, come on. Don't be such a mean."

I smiled at him and said, "Your accent's cute, though. But try harder, okay?"

Surprisingly, I felt comfortable talking to him that I didn't notice how long we were together. I was supposed to hang out here for a while to relax as the midterm exam week has come to an end already. I deserve a break but I never knew it will be so much fun to be with Clifford.

He placed his long fingers under his chin as if he was mentally counting the years he has spent here in the Philippines. "Seven or eight years? You can't blame me for not mastering my pag-ta-Tagalog skills because every school break, we are spending it out of the country. As much as I want to practice my Tagalog, nobody wants to teach me."

"Kahit sina Scarlett?"

"They were teaching me before but the school we have all attended when we were in high school was an international school so our language there should be English and French, Spanish, whatsoever. Natuto naman ako mag-Tagalog, but I still can't speak straightly and it sounds really funny." And it really does sound funny but cute.
