Kara’s POV

*

“Sólo con pensarlo se acelera el pulso (oh yeah),” I belted out Daddy Yankee’s Despacito while jiggling my butt in the air and making funny sounds whenever I gagged. Washing my teeth with dried and powdered charcoal like I’d seen in an Instagram advert meant I would have to stare into the mirror to avoid getting black stains all over my body and even over my room.

I then rinsed my face before wearing my hair bonnet. Finally drying my hands and face with my face towel, I hung them back and exited my en-suite. I spotted my phone vibrating and wondered why it didn’t ring out, picking the heavy China made device immediately. It was Adrian.

“How did today go?” Her curious voice came on. She was sounding breathless, as if she had just had a good run. I played with the tip of my hair and set the phone down on my dressing table, sitting myself as I accessed my teeth in the mirror.

“Grumpily. Why didn’t you tell me you wouldn’t be flying back to Italy today? I had to hear it from Paul.”

“Sorry babe, I had no time to call. Why do you keep shining your gums into the camera?” She frowned.

“I’m not. I did the charcoal stuff I told you about so I’m assessing my work. And as I said earlier, I’m not in a really good mood.” I ended with a pout.

She scoffed. “Please, like I care about your feelings. How did your little ride to Mr. Ben go?”

“Oh. He told you?”

“Paul tells me everything.”

“Well, knowing I don’t have any cousins to braid my hair while we have a nice chat just made my day brighter.”

“That’s your problem; you have me to tell everything so you don’t even need any cousin. I’ll ask again, was it?” Adrian had the most unattractive way of comforting someone.

“Fine, you’re right anyway. It was uneventful, I should admit. Youn- Stephano kept glaring at everyone, his face hard as it usually is. Paul himself was on his phone throughout.”

“Oh...what next then? You’ll be making babies before we say cheese.” She squealed and patted her cheeks dearly.

“W-”

“You’re already calling him Stephano, you lucky pig. That’s impressive.”

I snorted. “Of all the things I said...” I narrowed my eyes at her.

“Don’t stray from the topic.” Her tone was teasing as she shook her head with an irritating smirk I currently wished I could wipe off.

I heaved a sigh. “He insisted I should and besides, it’s more comfortable that way. I’m hungry...” I trailed off with a frown. Was a large bowl kept somewhere in my stomach? It was unbelievable that I was once again hungry when I already had dinner with Paul in the spare room he was staying!

“That isn’t something new, you’re always hungry. Anyway, how is my cousin? He hasn’t been picking his calls.”

“Yes. His battery got flat because he wouldn’t drop it throughout the evening. He kept receiving calls.... but he’s charging it as we speak. Also, he’s already asleep.”

A smile played on my lips as I remembered how lively this evening had been and how Paul wouldn’t stop talking about how good looking Stephano was or how he liked his physique after I followed him to his room. One would think Paul was bisexual but he wasn’t. His girlfriend’s picture was even his phone’s wallpaper.
