Chapter 7

3 Weeks later

I run downstairs with my bag, notepad and pen.

Liu was knocking at the door to come get me for school.

I open the door and was immediately met with a tight embrace.

I gasp as Liu hugs me. I hug back, confused.

"y/n guess what!" He said excitedly

I tilt my head and wait for an answer.

"Jeff gets out of hospital today!" He said with a beaming smile.

My face lights up and I hug him again in joy.

"How lovely" Mum says from behind us.

I feel my face turn red and I pull away from the hug.

"Lets go" Liu said

I nod and say goodbye to mum.

We walk along to the bus stop as normal.

School went as normal too.

1st period: Sat at the back (as usual)

Recess: Sat in the corner and served as a living trash can 9As usual

3rd, 4th and 5th Period: same and 1st

Lunch: Same as recess

6th, 7th and 8th period: same as the rest

We were eager to get to the hospital and see Jeff.

The bus trip was long and felt like it lasted an eternity until we finally arrived at the hospital.

We rush up the stairs, my body pumping with adrenaline as we come to a halt outside of Jeffs room.

Liu's mum and dad were there too.

"Hello Liu, y/n" His mum said

I wave and smile.

"So whats happening?" Liu asked

"The doctors wanted to do one final checkup before we went in" she said

"Mr and Mrs Woods?" The doctor came out of the room "Come on in"

We walk into the room and sit on the chairs that were there for us.

The doctor walked to the other side of the bed and began to unravel the bandages.

I grab Liu's hand and we hold each others hands tightly.

The bandages slowly unravel until there is only one pull left.

Then with one pug pull, the last of the bandages came off, revealing his face.

There was a scream from his mother and that made my blood run cold.

I look at Jeff, his face was completely white and looked almost leathery. His hair was jet black and shoulder length. 

"It's, not that bad" Liu said with an almost fake smile.

Jeff jumps out of bed and runs to the small bathroom and looks in the mirror.

"Not that bad" Jeff said "Its perfect!"

I stood up but Liu pulls me back down.

Then Jeff started laughing uncontrollably as his hand started to twitch.

"Jeff, a-are you ok?" Liu asked

"Ok? Ive never felt so happy" He said "This face fits me perfectly HAHAHA"

"Doctor" Liu's mum said "Is my son ok? In the head?"

"Oh yes" the doctor said "This situation is normal for people who have taken large amounts of pain killers. If this behaviour doesn't change in a few weeks, bring him back here, and we'll give him a psychological test"

"Oh thank you doctor" She said as she turns her attention to Jeff"Jeff sweetie, It's time to go home"

Jeff turned to her and smiled ominously "Ok mummy"

The last remark sent shivers down my spine.

We walk out of the room and Jeff keeps his head down, but I could tell he was still smiling.

We get into Liu's parents car and drive home. The ride home I sat on the opposite side to the car as Jeff and Liu sat between us, holding my hand.

When we got home I hug Liu goodbye and walk over to my house.

"Hello sweetie" Mum said as I walked in the door "How was Jeff?"

I stop walking to the stairs and look at mum 'good' I reply

"Oh ok" She said surprisingly "You hungry?"

I shake my head and walk up to my room.

I collapse onto my bed and close my eyes.

What happened to Jeff?
