[ Haydn's POV ]

Watching her walk away from me with the hint of a smile on her lips, I couldn't help but laugh to myself as I made my way back to the cafeteria. I knew that people would stare and that the whispering would continue, but I couldn't worry about it; it really wasn't all that important to me. Sure, what was going on with Adriana was a bit obvious now, but no one in the school was smart enough to know what was the reason or the people involved, and as long as it stayed that way, I didn't have anything to worry about.

I had just entered the cafeteria when a small blonde ran up to me with his arms crossed. People were beginning to stare again, but I ignored them and looked down at the guy in front of me. When he didn't say anything, I rolled my eyes and began to push past him, making him clear his throat and begin to tap his foot in an almost too-feminine matter. I knew that he wouldn't go away until I found out what it was he wanted, so I sighed and turned to him. “Do you want something?”

He nodded. “Yeah, where's Adriana?”

Raising a brow at him, I gave him a quick once over before looking back up at his face. “Who are you again?”

“Her best friend, now where is she.” His tone was getting a bit harsh with each word he said, but judging by the look in his eyes, I knew that he was afraid; at least a little. For what, well, that was obvious. I was in a gang for starters and if I wanted to, I could have him gone within a few seconds. But I couldn't do that; he was a friend of Adriana's and I would need him if something went wrong with the plan.

So, I grinned to myself and put my arm around his shoulder; leading him out of the cafeteria and back into the hallway where I had just been. His breathing picked up, and I guess it was because he thought I was going to hurt him or something, but when I pulled away from him, I noticed that he was blushing—quite feverishly, actually. It took me a second to put two-and-two together, but when I did, I couldn't help but let my grin grow into a full blown smirk.

He was gay.

Not wanting to intimidate him anymore than I had already, I leaned casually against the wall and waited for him to say something. Clearing his throat again, he did just that. “So, where is she? I know you didn't drag me out here to have a casual conversation.”

Resisting the urge to shake my head at the femininity in his voice, I simply shrugged. “Well, she wandered off to the bathroom before I made my way back to the cafeteria. I'm sure if you walk over there you'll find her without issue.” He didn't move; he simply gave me a once over that I couldn't help but be uncomfortable with. Whether or not he was closeted, I didn't know, but since I had figured it out, having him stare at me like a hungry tiger kind of made me wonder how long he had been doing so from afar. That's not gay of me, is it?

I shrugged it off and looked at him expectantly, waiting for him to say something, but he simply continued to stare at me until I picked myself up off of the wall and walked in the direction of the hallway I had just come from. Due to prior experience, I knew that he would follow after me, and when he did, I couldn't help but grin a lot. Damn, I do that a lot.

We had just made our way to the seemingly empty hallway when a female voice filled our ears. “Damn it, Jayson, you need to leave me alone.”

Jayson's here? At the mention of his name, I walked over to the hallway and kept myself—and blondie—hidden behind the lockers as we watched what was happening. It was hard to see anything since they were standing on such an awkward angle, but I could see Adriana's face and she was clearly pissed off.

Blondie shifted beside me and nearly fell over, but I picked him up before he could hit the floor or make too much noise. “Damn it, kid, will you stop moving so I can see what's happening?”
