Set during Captain America: Civil War

Imagine : Sam helps you out in a fight against Natasha

"As magnificent as you look, Wilson, I'm gonna need you to watch my back," you shouted as you crouched behind a car, hoping that comms were still online.

"Dude, I'm gonna need that in writing," he replied as he swooped over your head, "You never tell me that I look good".

Exasperated, you looked up to the sky and shook your head at him. He landed on top of a nearby building briefly before catching sight of Rhodey and taking off again. You rolled your eyes and ducked even further down, holding your breath for a moment and trying to focus.

After a few seconds, you heard footsteps approaching you from behind. Someone cleared their throat. You spun around and leapt to your feet, hands reaching for the two katanas you had strapped to your back. It was Natasha. If she wanted to, she could have been silent; she wanted you to hear her coming.

"I don't want to hurt you..." Nat stated, gun drawn all the same. She looked like she could be sad but you knew her; she was a trained assassin and you were her mark. She wasn't going to let up until she had you.

"Then don't. Join our side; the right side. Don't be fooled by Stark - don't become a pet, Nat".

"You know that's not an option for me".

She started to slowly approach you as you walked backwards. Before you realised what you'd done, you were standing out in the open; uncovered on all sides. Luckily, no one had seen the two of you yet but it was only a matter of time before someone did. Then you'd be screwed.

Where's Wilson when you need him?

You cast a glance upward. The sky was clear.

Taking matters into your own hands, you raised a sword in her direction. "Looks like you're gonna have to fight me because I'm sure as hell not letting you bring me in".

"Jesus put the toothpicks down..." Natasha said, her tone laced with sarcasm.

After a heavy pause, you ran toward your former teammate, kicking her legs out from underneath her. You moved to swing your sword but she blocked you with her gauntlet and kicked hard at your knee. Pain erupted in your leg - forcing you to drop down and lose your grip on one sword. Natasha saw her chance and kicked both of her legs into the centre of your chest, leaping up and rolling you onto your front. With practised ease, she disarmed you and moved both swords out of reach. You coughed and spluttered as she started to force your head down onto the hard concrete; tangling a hand in your hair to give her a better grip. Pieces of loose stone dug into your cheek and the side of your forehead, stinging so much that you knew they were bleeding.

"Stop struggling," the redhead ordered. "Put your hands behind your back".

"No!"

She inhaled but was cut off. Her weight disappeared from where she'd been straddling your back and you were able to roll over and see what had happened. Falcon was on top of Natasha a short distance away, trying to stop himself from being tased.

You got to your feet and ran to assist him, bringing the handle of your sword down hard onto her temple. That gave Sam the chance to grab her wrist and place her gauntlet under her own jaw, before arming it and knocking her out with her own Widow's Bite.

Once her eyes fluttered shut and her body relaxed, you helped Wilson get to his feet. He stood close to you - very close - with his chest against yours. You noticed that he was leaning his forehead towards yours and you waited for a moment before slapping him hard across the face.

"Owww! What was that for?" he asked, clutching his cheek.

"Typically when a person asks for you to watch their back, you help them before they are wrestled to the floor!" You shook your head. "Remind me never to ask you for help again".

"With pleasure".

A/N : Bit of a boring one but it's been a draft for a while so :/
