The boys all hopped out the car, stretching as the sun his the bare skin on their arms, the fresh air blowing the smells of summer around them with a gentle breeze as they stood in the car park of the rescue centre, nestled in a small valley in the countryside.
It was their final day here, they'd done a weeks volunteering and they were suitably tired. Looking after hybrids for a week wasn't an easy gig, and certainly a far cry from their usual week. "Last day...makes me kinda sad." Hoseok frowned and Jimin nodded. "Yeah. It's been a busy week but i'll sure miss some of these crazy hybrids."
They'd look after all kinds of hybrids, from young babies in the nursery, right up to the older folk in their own rooms who just wanted company and everything in between including the little space hybrids and the ones in the onsite hospital that needed treatment after being rescued from abusive homes.
They all entered via the main door and were greeted by the staff they'd come to bond with over their week. "Hello boys!" The old lady who manned reception smiled at them nodding for them to sign in before they could start. They all squiggled on the appropriate lines and were greeted by a middle aged man. "Hey guys. Since it's your last day you're free to go wherever you want. Just make sure to stay on site and wear your badges at all times." He smiled handing them all a lanyard with a visitors badge and their photo on it they'd been issued at the start of the week.
The boys made a unanimous choice that the hospital was where they wanted to go. They'd spoken about it before they arrived.
This choice was easily swayed by a swan hybrid. What made her rare however, was the fact she was crossed with a black swan. As they entered the right ward they were greeted by a familiar little girl at the age of 4. She had jet black hair that hung half way down her back and from a distance she looked like a normal girl. Until you got close and she had orangey/red eyes the same colour as the beak would be on the bird and a pair of black feathery wings on her back that contrasted with her pale white skin.
"Hey angel." Jimin smiled as they got closer and Yn giggled. "Yn's not angel." Yn corrected him and Jin frowned asking her why not. "Like mum said before Yn come here, angels have white wings, and Yn has black. That's why no one wants Yn" Yn said, a bright smile still on her face as she spoke, clearly not understanding the weight of the words she'd so nonchalantly spoken, which broke the boys hearts.
They boys had learnt a lot about Yn over the week. Her mother was a drug user and slept with a male swan hybrid, hoping for an angelic looking child with white hair and white wings to make money from by using her beauty and rarity but Yn was born with the very rare black swan gene, rendering her unwanted by her mother and teased by the other hybrid children in the same hospital wing as her who called her a crow, rather than the beautiful swan she was.
"Hmph. Nonsense, don't for a second think that's true." Yoongi said, anger running through him as Namjoon picked her up and settled her on his hip while Yoongi held her hand. "S'not true?" Yn asked, harshly brushing her hair away from her face with her free hand and Hoseok shook his head. "Nope. It isn't true Yn. Wanna know why?" He asked as she let go fo Yoongi's hand and wrapped her arms around Namjoon's neck hugging him tight. "Because we're taking you home!" Taehyung grinned and they all watched as Yn's face lit up.
"Home? Yn's going to a home?!" She gushed wriggling out of Namjoon's grip and landing on the floor as she looked up at the seven smiling men. "Not just any home Yn. Our home." Jungkook smiled as Yn shouted a happy 'yes' as she ran over to the nurses telling them what had just happened.
The boys walked back to reception Yn holding Taehyung and Jungkook's hands as she skipped happily between them whilst the boys picked up her suitcases at reception. "Why are Yn's things here?!" She asked confused and Jimin smiled down at her. "Because we've been planning this all week." "You're really going to love it Yn. I went to do your home check earlier this week." One of the staff smiled at her as her face shone with glee.
They happily walked out the entrance to take Yn to her new home, the happy girl dancing and skipping just ahead of them. "Be careful!" But it was too late. Yn had already stumbled down the first step causing them all to worry as she stumbled down a few more just about managing to stay upright before falling forwards down the steep steps, but she quickly opened those pretty little black feathery wings and saved herself, ungracefully and aggressively flapping enabling her to land on her feet rather than her face. "Yn still needs to practise." She grinned sheepishly as she jumped up and down at the bottom waiting for them. "This is going to take some getting used to." Jungkook laughed as he looked at Jin who had his hand on his heart and a look of relief on his face as he gave a gentle nod of agreement.
