The Phone call

Draco Malfoy was walking into his calculus class when he abruptly bumped into someone. "Oh, great it's you," he said in disgust.

"Nice to see you too," Hermione Granger said, "What do you want?"

"I don't need anything, you're the one who ran into me," Draco replied with some bite in his words.

"Are you serious? You weren't paying attention and ran into me," she fired back. "Now, if you'll excuse me I'm going to be late for calculus." She shoved Draco out of the way and stormed past him.

Draco muttered some foul language under his breath and followed her into the classroom. The calculus professor, Professor McGonagall, started the lecture while Draco sneaked a glance at Granger. She, of course, was dutifully taking notes. Oh, how she annoyed Draco. Draco was always trying to beat her in classes but she somehow always managed to snag the higher grade. He would bet anything that she was bribing all the teachers because no one got that good of grades, especially not in college.

Draco pulled his attention back to McGonagall. She was talking about some complicated problem that he had no idea how to set up. McGonagall could probably tell that he was confused since he hadn't been paying attention which was probably the reason she decided to call on him for the answer. He looked over at his friend Blaise for help, but Blaise just shrugged back.

"Well, Mr. Malfoy? What's the answer?" McGonagall asked again.

"Umm..." Draco dumbly responded.

"The answer is x," Granger interrupted.

"Thank you, Miss Granger, but that was Mr. Malfoy's question so please do not interrupt again."

"Sorry, Professor McGonagall," Granger said in a sickly sweet way.

Under his breath, Draco muttered, "Suck up."

"What was that, Mr. Malfoy?" McGonagall asked. Luckily he was saved by the phone ringing. "Excuse me, class," McGonagall said and turned around to answer the phone. She picked up the phone, someone spoke for a while on the other side, a look of shock crossed her face, and the phone clattered to the ground. From the phone Draco heard someone saying:

"Hello? Minerva? Are you still there?"
