*3rd Person*

"Do you think Lila will tell the reporters she's engaged to you?" Marinette asked Damian.

She also happened to have asked him while he was putting a piece of his food from the fork in his mouth. Her question obviously caught him off guard since she had just randomly asked him during their dinner.

Damian choked on his food and started coughing. She was about to get up from the chair to help him when he put his hand up to stop her. He drank some of his water to stop his coughing.

"Is that what she's saying now?" Damian asked, his voice a bit raspy.

Marinette nodded.

"Doubt the reporters will even believe her words, half of the nonsense she has tried to spread isn't even my personality, anyone in Gotham will be able to tell she is lying, even the reporters. If they do believe her, should I tell everyone that you're my fiancé instead?" Damian said, slightly smirking.

It was now Marinette's turn to start coughing.

"Is that your way of asking? I thought it would be at least more romantic," she said, once she caught her breath.

Damian raised an eyebrow and smiled a bit.

"We should probably get going, we don't want to be late and miss showing off my real fiancé to the cameras," Damian said teasingly while getting up from the table.

Marinette's eyes widened.

"Bu-bu-but I didn't say yes," she said, right before he moved away from the table.

"So that's a no? Then I guess I just got an unexpected engagement from some lowlife," Damian said, sitting back down.

"What?!"

"If I say no to her in public, I doubt she'd even back off, she will probably make some excuse," Damian said but then paused and looked to his side, his facial features slightly changing.

"But if I mention that liar to mother that she wishes to marry me, maybe then she will just disappear but if that happens, father will surely be disappointed," Damian continued.

"Not that I'm agreeing with the killing part but if you mention it to your mother, wouldn't Lila somehow convince your mother to let her marry you?" Marinette asked.

"Tt she wouldn't even pass the first test, plus my mother wouldn't be easily manipulated, she's a manipulator as well and doesn't take it so well when people lie to her. Plus she would see that the liar has no benefits or skills to bring in other than lying," Damian said.

"There's a test? Like some assassins' test?" Marinette asked, shocked.

"Something like that. I mean according to the League, not anyone can just marry the Demon's Heir so there's a series of tests that someone will go through so that they can benefit the League," Damian said.

"Demon's Heir? What kind of person is your mother really because I thought she was just some regular assassin for hire," Marinette said.

Just then the waitress brought out their desserts and took the plates they had just finished.

"Just because the waitress interrupted us, doesn't mean you get out about telling me what the Demon's Heir really means," Marinette said.

"It means that Damian will one day become the ruler of my father's organization, whether he wants it or not," a woman said in a stern tone. The woman was standing in the corner of the room, leaning against the wall with her arms crossed.

Marinette looked over in her direction in surprise. She wondered when she even walked in or even how long she had been standing there listening to their conversation
