Apologetics

Apologetics is meant to be
Armor for your mind
Not a sword for nonbelievers

Why would you
Want to fight off
Those who don't believe?

Where in the Bible
Does Jesus say to fight
Off the unbelievers
Or to stab and maim
The sinner with
Your philosophical sword?

I don't think my Jesus
Gave us
Apologetics to use as a sword,
Perhaps in some cases
In the case of philosophers
And brilliant scholars
Much smarter than me,
But instead,
I think that apologetics are a gift
And are meant to be
Used as armor for our minds
To steel ourselves from doubts
To strengthen us from within
To help us
To love God with our minds,
Not to hurt or to stab,
But to shield and protect.

Apologetics was not meant
To protect our faith
From nonbelievers.
No, apologetics is meant
To protect our minds
From doubt and from fears

Apologetics is a form
Of Christ's love towards us
It's a gift from a Father to His child
The gift of knowledge and of strength
A form of armor
Meant to protect His beloved
From the war of doubt that the enemy wages

Apologetics was meant to guard
The minds of those He loves
Not to hurt the sinner
Searching for answers
