Chapter 34 - Two Plus Two Adds Up

At the secret NSA European headquarters inside an ordinary looking office building,

things were heating up. Hooper had called a meeting in one of the many rooms throughout the

building. Jindal, Vladimir and Sonya joined him. There was also Hooper's supervisor, a lead

intelligence officer and two more agents.

The intelligence office started things off. "We have a solid lead which we may be able to

use to bring about a resolution to your previous assignment. That assignment is still active and

we have been providing support by monitoring all activity in and around Europe for a lead. We

got lucky this morning."

All eyes were on him, "There was a covert cell of our Middle Eastern counterparts

working in Paris and we picked up the slightest glimpse of their movements. They exited the

country quickly and quietly right after the apartment building you were at blew up. The plane

they contracted flew directly to Eastern Europe and into the Northern Middle East. We also

picked up a request from a senior NSA field agent in Texas to request an assignment in Eastern

Europe and the Middle East to continue working with those same foreign agents in an ongoing

investigation into the KGB."

Everyone was on the edge of their seat, this was sounding promising. "That field agent

happens to be Julio Escobar, a close friend of Olivia Robinson."

Hooper spoke up, "That is it! That is them, let's get ready and go after them."

Hooper‟s supervisor stood and settled him down, "Agents, this is our best shot at

redemption on this one, I agree with Hooper, if Robinson's friend flew halfway across the

world, it must be to meet her. We are keeping the circumstances surrounding this assignment

shrouded in complete secrecy. I want all of you to gear up, I will set up a plane for you and you

will depart in four hours. We have good intelligence on the location of the presumed KGB

headquarters. There is no doubt that is the target where they will be heading. There is no option

for failure on this one Hooper. The six of you will be operating deep inside another country‟s

sovereignty, get me information on those crystals or don't bother to come back."

Everyone in the room understood the severity of the assignment being a success.

Hooper issued orders to the team, "Everyone get weapons and explosives, and carry all

that you can. Leave any identifying information behind. We will be dropping in by parachute

this time and have to make our way to a landing zone for pick up once the assignment is

completed. Meet back here in three hours for a briefing on codes and protocols, lets go."

Vladimir and Sonya were the last to leave the room.

They spoke for a moment to each other. Sonya said, "Do you think this is a smart move?

I think all of the crystals are with Alexei back in Paris."
