"So, the person who ever has written this letter wanted a family for their daughter. They want Mara to be safe and happy." Hiccup said.
"You mean Astrid has to be her mother?" Fishlegs asked.
Hiccup nodded.
"Astrid, do you think you can do this?" he asked his best friend.
Astrid nodded. She looked at the sleeping child in her arms and smiled. Hiccup placed his hand on top of Mara's head and petted her.
The baby woke up.
Mara smiled first at her Mom and then at her Dad. She made cute baby noises.
Astrid handed her over to Hiccup.
He smiled at his daughter.

Yes, she wasn't his biological daughter, but he promised to be a good father to the girl.
So did Astrid.

The others weren't against her to stay.
Ruffnut really likes Mara. Whenever Hiccup and Astrid were on a patrol flight, the Thorston girl looked after the baby.

Mara's sleeping by Astrid in her bed. She likes Astrid more than the others.

But, she also really likes Hiccup.

They are her new Mom and Dad.

Whenever something was wrong with Mara, both of them stayed at Astrid's.

The dragons liked to play with the little girl.

Astrid and Hiccup became the new family for Mara.

~Timeskip four years~

Hiccup's POV:

It's been four years since Astrid found our little daughter, and I can't imagine a life without her and my best friend.

Only the gang, the Berserkers, and the defenders of the wing know about our little girl, and they really like her. Mala thought Mara was our biological daughter.

But my Dad never met her, and I don't know how he would react.
We weren't on Berk since we became her parents. Honestly, I am afraid of my Dad.
What if he thinks I got Astrid pregnant?
Mara has my hair and my eye color.
Forestgreen eyes.

But she is a worrior like her Mom.

Astrid and I aren't married. We're not even together.
Yes, I have feelings for her, but this could mean the end of our friendship.
And I don't want this.

I was sitting at my desk in my hut and was drawing something, when I hear the door went open.
Then I saw Mara ran in.
"Hey, sweetie. Is everything fine?"
"Yes, Dad. I'm just hiding from Mom." She went under my bed.
"And,...why are you hiding?" I asked.
"I don't want to sleep!" I just had to laugh.
"Sweetheart, come here."
She went over to me and sat into my lap.
She hugged me thigh.
I stood up, holding her in my arms.

Somehow, she fell asleep.

I went to Astrid's hut because Mara's always sleeping by her.
I saw Astrid searching for her daughter.
"Astrid,-"
"Not now, Hiccup. I have to find...Mara." She said when she saw us.
"Are you kidding me?!" I chuckled and handed my daughter over to her Mom.

Astrid was sitting in her bed with a sleeping Mara in her lap.
I looked at her desk.
There was a sheet of paper. It was a sketch of a defend system.
"May I ask you something?" I asked.
