Alex felt terrible about how Henry had to take care of him after the bachelor party. At first, Alex didn't understand why his body had reacted that way; he didn't think he drank that much. But then he remembered, he had taken a second pill in the afternoon that day because he had already felt tired and knew he would be staying up late. He looked it up and it turns out that alcohol and Adderall together were a big no-no. How could Alex have been so stupid? He'd been playing with fire for weeks now and didn't even realize. He was lucky nothing worse happened.

Alex starts to feel better after a few bites of cake. They already had a huge cake for all the guests: a simple white cake with vanilla frosting filled with raspberry (it had to be a little fruity). But they had decided they would get a smaller cake just for themselves, the top tier of which would be the one they save for a year in the freezer to eat on their one year anniversary: a tradition neither of them really understand.

Henry is quiet, likely upset with him, and Alex couldn't blame him. In his eyes, Alex had got wasted; he didn't remember much, but he's pretty sure he puked on Henry at some point. Then he had to end their dance lesson early for being too hungover, and he kept stepping on Henry's toes. Time to put his charm to work, even though he isn't quite feeling up to it. It is their wedding this week after all, all of this is supposed to be fun.

"Oh baby, you have to try this one," Alex says as he forks a bite and brings it to Henry's lips. Henry gives him that side eye to let Alex know he's not fooled by his charm but eats the bite of red velvet regardless.

"Hum.." Henry says, playing along. "That is quite a good red velvet, but I'm not sure it's my favorite of the bunch."

"And which is that?"

"The banana cream." Alex can't tell if it's a joke.

He can't help but laugh. "There is no way we're having banana cream as our wedding cake! And is it your favorite or does it just remind you of something else you like having in your mouth?" Alex smirks at him.

"Well if that's why I like it, I'm sure you'll enjoy it even more," Henry says as he takes a small handful of the banana cream and shoves it into Alex's mouth.

"Yuh id nod tho baanana fovor thot yoo like," Alex says with his mouth full of cake and frosting nearly up his nose. That finally makes his fiancé giggle. Alex loves to make Henry laugh. He wants to make him laugh for the rest of their lives. Make him smile and blush and squeal and moan. Alex realizes his mind might be getting a little off track.

Alex turns back to the cakes and picks up the plate of chocolate.

"Since I'm not going to get a chance to do this at the wedding," Alex smashes the whole slice of cake into Henry's face, "I wouldn't want to embarrass you in front of so many people, or ruin what I sure is an immaculate tux."

"Oh, but this suit is fine to ruin?" Henry says, trying to wipe the cake from his eyes. He's smiling though and Alex is glad he didn't take it too far.

"You started it!"

"I only got it around your mouth!" Henry says reaching for another handful of cake - carrot this time - to throw towards Alex. Alex unsuccessfully tries to duck as it hits his shoulder. Thank goodness he left his Stanton hat on the coat rack.

He doesn't think about the mess or what the shop-owner will think as he reaches for the cheesecake. In this moment, Henry is smiling, and that's all that matters.

By the time they get to the decorations, Alex can barely keep himself awake and just lets Henry confirm everything since he's the one who picked it out anyway. Alex is fine with anything that Henry wants. He agreed for it to be public, so Alex is more than happy to let Henry make the rest of it exactly the way he envisions it.
