I sat by the window
And you brought me coffee
As the turtles blasted through the stereo
Me and you sat side by side
Thinking we are happy together.

I looked down at my thighs
It was black and blue
And I looked at you
You promised it was the last time
For the twelfth time
To not get jealous and drunk
Out of love
And I never leave
Because we are happy together.

You tossed me across the room
And I burned your clothes
You tore my books
I broke your laptop
Out of insecurity
Because we were in love
So happy together.

You and me
Me and you
No one would understand
Our midnight fights
That end up with bruises
And broken windows
But still we stay
Alive and insane
But we are happy together.
