"Ang daya mo. Ang daya daya mo," mahina at walang emosyong sambit ni Silver habang nakatitig sa malaking litrato ni Reika. Sa liwanag ng ngiti ng dalaga, hindi aakalain ninuman ang lagim ng kinahinatnan nito.
"When was the last time you took a rest?"
Nag-angat siya ng tingin sa kanyang gilid at nakita si Jethro sa kanyang tabi. Kagaya niya ay namamaga rin ang mga mata nito at nakasuot ng kulay itim bilang pag-alala sa kay Reika.
"Let me talk to that slashed faced bitch and I might." Nagtagis ang bagang ni Silver habang matalim ang tingin sa binata. "Stop being a hypocrite and let me fucking talk to her. It's been two fucking days already."
Puno ng awa siyang tiningnan ni Jethro. "I know you're angry but--"
"Angry?" Pagak siyang napahalakhak. "Angry doesn't even begin to describe how I feel right now. My best friend was murdered by some random crazy girl. I didn't just lose Reika, I lost Slade too. My brother is still breathing and walking around but he sure is a dead man without her."
Jethro hung his head low as he reached for Silver's trembling hand but she was quick to take it away. She took a few steps away from him, looking at him with so much doubt and indifference.
"Are you even doing anything to give Reika the justice she deserves? Are you even doing anything to find Magno at all?" Silver uttered bitterly.
Jethro closed his eyes in shame. "Reika's Grandfather ordered us to back off. May sarili siyang task force na pinakilos sa paghahanap kay Magno."
"Let me guess?" Sarcastic na ngumisi si Silver. "Attorney Magno probably blackmailed your Father into letting him do his own thing? And you, being the most obedient son in Filimon Heights, followed your Father's orders again just like the good old days huh? What a great friend you are, Jethro Filimon."
"I'm sorry..." Muli, sinubukan ni Jethro na hawakan ang kamay ni Silver, at muli ay mabilis na umiwas ang dalaga.
Malamig na napatitig si Silver kay Jethro. "If you really are sorry, let me talk to that bitch and stop keeping me in the dark. I deserve to know what's going on."
"She's the only lead we have. I know this sounds fucked up but we can't let anything happen to her while Magno is still missing. Don't hurt her... yet." Maotoridad man ang pananalita, may pag-aalala pa rin sa boses ni Jethro.
Ilang sandaling nabalot ng katahimikan ang dalawa at nanatiling nakatitig sa isa't-isa. Nabasag lamang ito nang bumuntong-hininga si Silver bilang pagsuko.
"Okay," taas-noo at walang emosyon niyang sambit. "Now let me talk to her. You're the son of the Mayor, I'm sure you can pull some strings in the middle of the night."
Pikit mata namang tumango si Jethro.
Paglabas ng restaurant, natanaw ni Silver ang kakambal na si Slade na nakatayo sa tapat ng sidewalk kung saan natagpuan si Reika na nag-aagaw buhay. Puno ito mga kandila, bulaklak, at liham mula sa lahat ng nagmamahal sa kanya. Hindi ito nag-iisa, kasama nito si Riley at masinsin silang nag-uusap.
