She walked to where the water hose was placed and turned the faucet. She started at the bushes that separate their lawn from Andy’s. He saw where Rebecca was standing so he slowly moved to the bushes while raking the leaves.

Andy asked what her plans were after graduation. Rebecca said she hasn’t figured things out yet. She couldn’t decide which school to attend to because her dream school was not what her father wants for her and she didn’t want to upset her parents. Andy told her that college is for her own future and not her parents, it should be her choice and if they truly love their child then they would support her choices.

Rebecca smiled and thanked Andy for the advice. They went on with their chores and Rebecca finished first. She said she was heading ahead inside. Andy smiled and he finished throwing the gathered leaves to the trash and went back inside the house.

His mother was smiling and asked him how it went outside. Andy didn’t want to say much because it was awkward to talk about girls with his nosy mother. He just said that it went well and that Rebecca was never going to see him as more than her next door neighbor.

Her mother said she likes Rebecca Flakes, she’s polite, kind-hearted, smart and respectful. Andy said he got the point but it wasn’t really helping, Rebecca was out of his reach like a star out in the Exosphere. Andy just sat there quiet and ate his breakfast.
