21) "It was because of you"

Natalie POV

So right now, me and Lauren are currently eating in this Italian restaurant. We just finished ordering our food and it was complete silence now.

"Hey Lauren?" I look up at her and she was already starting at me "In middle school, why did you left?" I asked her and she sighs "I moved to Miami because my parents got a divorce, my mom took custody of me and we moved to Miami for a new start." She said and I nodded

"Did you want to leave?" I asked her

"No, there was something that held me back from leaving" she said

"What was it?" I got curious

"You"

I froze in my seat and we stare at each other

"What do you mean-"

"During middle school, I only remembered smiling only once. And it was because of you" she whispered

I realized that when we met during the bus stop she laughed at me

"What are you thinking?" She asked me

"You hurt me back then" I said "I hurt you? Tell me what happened because I don't remember hurting you" she said

"The bus stop, you laughed at me"

Flashback

It was around 6:00 pm right now as I was sitting down on the bus stop bench. I stayed after school for two reasons, study hall and after school cleanup. So here I am sitting down by myself waiting for the bus to come. I got my headphones out and plug it into my old, broken flip phone and played some music. 

I was getting into my music so I started to dance with my feet

I smiled at how my feet looked when it's dancing

I felt someone staring at me, so I look to my left and I saw Lauren smiling and chuckled but she quickly stopped as she saw me

She was probably laughing at me.....

End of Flashback

I remember everything but Lauren just sat there staring at me doing nothing

"What am I saying? I sound stupid. It was years ago, you probably don't remember" I said laughing it off

"I remember. I remember it clearly" She responded and I stare at her

"But I wasn't laughing at you"

Flashback

Lauren POV

It was around 6:00pm and my mom didn't pick me up today. I walk to the bus stop and saw a girl wearing our school uniform. She was sitting on the bench and I was so focused on her

She's beautiful

She was listening to music with her earbuds in, her feet were dancing and I thought it was cute

I smiled

She turned around and I quickly hid my smile and look away from her

"So you didn't laughed at me?" I asked Lauren "Why would I laugh at you?" She chuckled and I shrugged "I was know as ugly foot in middle school. Bianca kept on bullying me and she was so into you" I chuckled

"Well, I didn't think you as that..." Lauren whispered and I smiled

Our food came and it was so good

We walk to Lauren's car and she drive me home. She parked in front of my house and I looked at her. "It's dark, go get inside" she touches my cheek "Thank you, for today" I smiled "You're welcome" she said the started to lean in. I lean in slowly too and our lips were almost touching

But then her phone rang.....

I look down and move away from her. "Bye Lauren" I whispered and left the car
