"this is north jones. not south jones but north. leave a message after the beep."

Beeeeeeep.

"a detective, more specifically detective james isaac who's in charge of your case, came over today. he said the drunk driver who had hit you that night was charged with a d.u.i., reckless endangerment, assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest but he explained to me that he was good friends with the judge's son so he was only sentenced to serve a month in prison. he put his beefy hand on my shoulder and told me that's just how the world works sometimes. corrupt, unjust, unfair and deceiving. he told me he was sorry before warning me not to do anything to the man when he gets out of prison because that would lead me into huge trouble. i don't know what he expects me to do, shoot the guy who ran you over or something. maybe that's what he thought but you and i both know that i've witnessed enough death in my lifetime to want anyone else dead. no matter how furious i am. at least that's one emotion i'm beginning to feel again."
