The Following Day

9:45 a.m.

Abdullah went to the hospital while his mum went to visit an old-friend. I was already prepared to pick Zainab from the hospital, so I walked outside. I peeped and take a view of outside when I saw two strange looking at my direction and walking towards the gate.

One was holding a gun, and the other was with a sharp knife. I quickly rushed inside the house and locked the door. Later, there was a knock on the gate. Mallam Doho went to answer, looking at their suspicious faces.

“Where your madam?” One of them, with a huge scar across his face, asked.

“My madam don commit, She no dey.”

They whispered silently within themselves.

“Okay, your oga dey inside?” The other one with a pot-belly questioned.

“No, he too don commot...”

“Okay.” They nodded and left with their weird looks.

Later, Mallam Dogo knocked on the door.

I told Mallam Dogo about what I observed and waited for some minutes before I leave. I felt so scared and told Zainab about it as we drove back home.

“Yaa Rabb! Could it be what I’m thinking?”

I looked at her in confusion. “What are you thinking?”

“Those could be Sahil’s thugs, you know. He could do anything!”

“Subhanallah! It could be true... Maybe I should tell Abdullah...”

“No... don’t worry about him. I’ll inform my brother about it. Trust me, I’ll silent Sahil and his thugs forever.”

“You’re so caring, girl!” I happily gave her a hug.

“Just stay with me for today, ehn? Don’t go anywhere.” She persuaded with a catty’s stare. “I miss your presence...”

I laughed at her words for a while. She sounded like a jealous husband.

After a while, Zainab got me a bottle of 5-Alive from the fridge and went inside her room. I was watching my favourite programme on Islam Channel.

Just about ten minutes, I heard someone ringing the alarm at the door.

“Is it Mother-in-law or Abdullah?...” I imagined as I opened the door wide open.

I looked stunned at the two fully built men standing in front of me. To my ultimate surprise, it was the two guys from before.

“W.. who are you? W.. what do you want?” My lips shivered to ask. Fear and tears clouded by shaky eyes.

The one with the big scar across his face threw a hot slap across mine. I fell flat on my stomach as I grabbed my belly in pain.

“Ahhhh!! A’uz...ubillah!!!!!”

A sharp pain struck through me as I let out a loud groan.

“Zai...nab! Za...aainab!! Zain...nab!!!” I called, but she didn’t answer.

I closed by eyes that were clouding with dark invisible doodles, reciting Ayatal-Qurisiyy.

The one with a pot-belly grabbed my arm mercilessly, twisting it in his direction. He injected me with only God knows what chemical and threw away my weak hand.

It was as if the black, invisible doodles engulfed me. I felt dizzy immediately and lost consciousness.

The two men took turns after turns on me for a while until I started bleeding. The both of them threw me into a big white shaka (Sack). It soaked me in blood, flowing from beneath my pink, silky gown.

Later, Zainab came down and saw what had happened.

“When did you get here, and why is she bleeding?”

“We wanted to report to you about something, but we caught the fly on our own web. We rode her to heaven for a while.”

“You did what?!”

“Didn’t you want her dead?”

“Yes, but...”

“Don’t worry, madam. The deed is done, and we’re going to clean this off later. Let’s throw this away immediately, before anyone suspects.”

“Okay… okay, be quick and snappy.”

Zainab opened the door and the man with the big scar carried the sack on his left shoulder and the other rushed to open the car’s boot. They threw me inside like a bag of dead-pig and just then, Abdullah drove in.

The boot wasn’t closing well, so they quickly rushed inside the car to drive away. Abdullah parked his car, blocking theirs. So they couldn’t even move.

Zainab rushed outside, confusion plastered her face as she caught the view of him. Her whole body shivered like they electrocuted her.

“Ab..abddullllaaahh.” Her lips quivered the words like that of a convulsing child.

He came down from his car, his eyes caught the view of blood drops from afar. He traced it from inside Zainab’s house.

“What’s happening? Where are you going?”

“Hmmm... To the airport.” She lied, faking a bright smile. “To Suncity, South-Africa...”

“Oh, really... Masha Allah, I’m happy for you. So, how are you feeling?”

“F...F...fine.” She stuttered, her breath getting heavier. Abdullah noticed the awkwardness and looked around.

“Where’s Aisha?” He asked, peeping at the guys through the window screen. Then Suddenly, his eyes caught the sleeve of my silky gown, at the edge of the boot. He rushed to open it immediately.

“What happened to her?!”

He looked at Zainab annoyingly in total dismay, but she couldn’t reply. She just stood there, staring black at his face.

The guys fled down and attacked Abdullah before he report to the police. He grabbed the hand of the man with pot-belly and kicked his gun away. Abdullah quickly held the gun and shot them on their legs as they tried to escape. He quickly called the police, and then arrested Zainab and her thugs. They rushed me to the hospital immediately for treatment.

At The Hospital...

“We have tried all we could, but she’s still bleeding. She’s losing a lot of blood. I think someone badly raped her. We might lose the three of them if someone doesn't do something immediately!”

“What?!” His red eyes burned with shock. As it is, he had already been crying and praying for a while now.

“You mean the mother and her babies?.......”

“Yes, doctor, she can only survive miraculously.”

“So, what do we do now? How long do we have?”

“She lost consciousness, meaning her babies are not breathing. She has 45 minutes left.”

“Okay, I understand. He called a number and rushed me to the airport. He took a plane as they flew to Grace Specialist Hospital, Atlanta. It was just 45 minutes past soon, I stopped bleeding and got injected.

Minutes later, the gynecologist came to meet Abdullah. “Congratulation sir, your wife has given birth to a set of twins.”
