Lauren opened her eyes gently, it was still dark in her room. The time read 2am, it was still night time.

Lauren was puzzled as to why she'd woken up so soon after she'd seemingly only just fallen asleep.

Looking around Lauren noticed that Camila was sprawled out sleeping on the other end of the bed.

She also noticed that Dinah was sitting up next to Lauren, staring ahead of her at the wall. This was unusual.

"Dinah?" Lauren got her attention and she almost jumped in surprise

"God you scared me Lauren.." Dinah responded tiredly

"Sorry. Why aren't you asleep?" Lauren asked worriedly

Dinah shook her head and sighed "I was up with Camila until she fell asleep and you were crying in your sleep. I wanted to make sure you were both okay." She explained

Lauren after Dinah's words, suddenly felt the dry tear tracks on her cheek and wiped them away quickly.

"Are you okay?" Lauren asked although she knew what the true answer was

Dinah nodded slowly but Lauren sighed at her lying, she understood why she lied. She just didn't like it.

"You're not Dinah, I know you're not. Now come here." Lauren opened her arms guiding Dinah into them gently, Dinah obliged laying down in Lauren's arms comfortably

"What's the matter?" Lauren asked stroking her fingertips up and down Dinah's back making her shiver

"Ever since I told you it just keeps coming back to me. When I blink I see it all over again. I can't fall asleep because whenever I close my eyes I-" Dinah stopped as her voice cracked

"Hey, nothing and nobody is going to hurt you again. I'm here, Camila's here and you're safe. I'll be right here while you sleep, I'll make sure that nothing bad happens to you." Lauren told her genuinely, speaking in a caring voice

Dinah nodded offering a small smile and burying her face in Lauren's neck for a sense of security.

It was dark and her eyes were closed. She saw it, and it was hard. But she knew Lauren was holding her, she knew she was there. Deep down, Dinah knew that she was safe in Lauren's arms. Her arms felt like home.

"Lauren?" Dinah whispered in a small voice, Dinah was never one to be vulnerable but she was now and she didn't like it.

"Yeah?" Lauren responded stroking Dinah's hair behind her ear

"Never mind. It's stupid." Dinah told herself what she wanted was pointless

"I say stupid things all the time. Lemme hear it." Lauren reassured her

"Can you sing to me? My earphones are on the other side of the room." Dinah asked timidly

"I don't really sing, but as its for you..why not." Lauren agreed

Loving can hurt,
Loving can hurt sometimes,
But it's the only thing that I know, oh
And when it gets hard..
You know it can get hard sometimes..
It is the only thing that, makes us feel alive..

We keep this love in a photograph
We made these memories for ourselves
Where our eyes are never closing,
Hearts are never broken,
And times forever frozen still..

So you can keep me,
Inside the pocket
Of your ripped jeans,
Holdin' me closer
'Til our eyes meet,
You won't ever be alone,
Wait for me to come home.

Dinah smiled against Lauren's neck. She loved this song. She was sure now that she loved it even more when it was sung in Lauren's voice.

Loving can heal,
Loving can mend your soul,
And it's the only thing that I know.

I swear it will get easier
Remember that with every piece of ya.
And it's the only thing we take, with us when we die

We keep this love in a photograph
We made these memories for ourselves
Where our eyes are never closing,
Our hearts were never broken,
And times forever frozen still.

So you can keep me,
Inside the pocket
Of your ripped jeans
Holdin' me closer,
'Til our eyes meet
You won't ever be alone

And if you hurt me,
That's okay baby, only words bleed.
Inside these pages you just hold me
And I won't ever let you go..

Wait for me to come home, ooh ooh

Oh you can fit me, inside the necklace you got when you were 16
Next to your heartbeat;
Where I should be,
Keep it deep within your soul..

And if you hurt me
That's okay baby, only words bleed
Inside these pages you just hold me
And I won't ever let you go, no..

And when I'm away
I will remember how you kissed me,
Under the lamppost;
Back on 6th street..
Hearing you whisper through the phone, "Wait for me to come home."

Lauren finished the song to see Dinah looking up at her in pure adoration.

"Your singing is officially one of my favourite things about you. You never told me you could sing like that." Dinah praised her

"I told you I don't sing, well not often. I guess I only sing for special people, and you're very special to me Dinah."

"Lauren, you gave that song something really special. I loved it and I love-" Dinah stopped herself

"You love..." Lauren trailed off wondering what Dinah was going to say before she cut herself off

"You." Dinah whispered not looking at Lauren for fear of her reaction

"You love me? Like, love me?" Lauren felt a blush make its way to her cheeks as she melted at Dinah's words.

Dinah nodded making herself look up at her feeling somewhat comforted by the tone of Lauren's voice.

Lauren gently leaned over and kissed her lips, it wasn't quick and casual.

The kiss was slow, delicate, meaningful and obviously loving. Dinah began to respond to it after a few seconds.

Dinah and Lauren pulled away at the same time as their eyelids fluttered open catching their breath back.

Lauren sensed the fear in Dinah's eyes and a small smile crept it's way to her face.

Lauren, stroking Dinah's hair behind her ear and looking her straight in the eyes returned the declaration
"Don't look so scared, I love you too."

Dinah breathed a sigh of relief nestling her head into Lauren's chest warmly

"Let's take it slow though, okay?" Lauren suggested as she wrapped her arms around Dinah

Dinah nodded in agreement, tightening her hold on Lauren, making sure both girls were aware of each other's presence "Goodnight Lauren."

"Goodnight Dinah." Lauren whispered placing a small kiss on her forehead before resting her head on Dinah's

Dinah couldn't help but fall asleep with a smile on her face. And for once, neither could Lauren.
