XXXII. YOUR VALENTINE

33 8 5

your valentine is wordless tonight
breaths break on her tongue,
she is speechless, words clattering
on her mouth.
and nighttime fed on that open mouth:
moonlight like peach juice
and cotton, needling
its way through your thorough lashes,
camels eyes, sandy eyes
but no sandman of sweet sleep
to sweep the daylight and the whys --

the white of the eye shines only in fear
and YOU SEE ME in windowlight --
do you see your valentine's love
clouded tonight, her teeth
sucking on that peachy skin.
