As they cried, they noticed a glowing manta ray coming their way. It swam gracefully and they watched it until they heard a familiar voice.

"You both are a long ways past the reef," Tala said.

"Gramma?" they said in disbelief.

"Guess I chose the right tattoo," Tala smirked.

"Gramma!" they shouted and ran to her.

They hugged her tightly as they continued to cry.

"We tried, Gramma," Kimi sobbed.

"We-- We couldn't to it," Moana cried.

"It's not your fault. I never should have put so much on your shoulders. If you're ready to go home, I will be with you. And Kimi, I'm so proud of you. I'm happy you got to live out your dream. I love you both," Tala told both her granddaughters.

"We love you too, Gramma," Kimi said, smiling.

Moana got up and walked to the end of the boat with the oar, but when she was about to put it in the water, she stopped.

"Why do you hesitate?" Tala asked.

"I don't know," Moana answered.

Kimi put a hand on her shoulder as Tala began to sing.

[Tala:]
I know two girls from an island.
They stand apart from the crowd.
They love the sea and their people.
They make their whole family proud.
Sometimes the world seems against you.
The journey may leave a scar.
But scars can heal and reveal just where you are.
The people you love will change you.
The things you have learned will guide you.
And nothing on earth can silence
the quiet voice still inside you.
And when that voice starts to whisper,
"Moana and Kimi, you've come so far,"
You both listen,
Do you know who you are?

"Who are we?" both girls asked.

[Moana:]
We are the girls who love our island

[Kimi:]
We're the girls who love the sea

[Both:]
It calls us

[Moana:]
We are the daughters of the village chief

[Kimi:]
We are descended from voyagers

[Both:]
Who found their way across the world.
They call us

[Moana:]
I've delivered us to where we are

[Kimi:]
I have journeyed farther

[Both:]
We are everything we've learned and more.
Still it calls us

[Moana:]
And the call isn't out there at all.
It's inside us

[Kimi:]
It's like the tide always falling and rising

[Moana:]
We will carry you here in our hearts.
You remind us

[Kimi:]
That come what may,
We know the way

[Both:]
I AM MOANA/KIMI

They dove into the water, retrieved the heart, and made it to the surface to see their grandmother was gone. They got back on the boat and prepared to leave.

'We are Moana and Kimi of Motunui. Aboard our boat. We will sail across the sea and restore the heart of Te Fiti,' they thought to themselves.

They cast off and went back to face Te Kā.
