Chapter 16

By the time Sasuke opened his eyes, Sakura attacked him with her hug. He saw how a blonde chick was carefully analyzing him. Naruto too was there, screaming incoherent words excitedly about the chick being the Godaime. After a minute adjusting himself, Sasuke's eyes widened.

"Nee-san?!" He jolted up, almost making himself fall if it were not for Jiraiya helping him up. "Where's nee-san?!"

"Ah, Uchiha Fumiko?" Tsunade pointed her thumb towards the bed next to him.

Sasuke's wide eyes catched the condition his sister was in. She was pale, with her hair sprawled around her pillow. Beads of sweat were dropping from her forehead. Her usually stoic face scrunched in pain. Sat beside her was Neji. He silently wiped out her sweats with gentleness that either the trio genin knew he had it in him.

"W-what's wrong with nee-san?" Sasuke asked panicky.

"Don't worry too much." Tsunade mumbled as she put her hand on Fumiko's forehead. The hokage then gasped when she noticed something was wrong.

"What's wrong?" Neji asked worriedly.

Tsunade casted him a glance, contemplating whether she should tell them or not. When she was about to open her mouth, a harsh grip on her hand stopped her. She looked down to her patient, only to find Fumiko glaring at her with her sharingan on. Now, Tsunade knew what was wrong with the girl's chakra. Fumiko's grip on her hand harder, making sure Tsunade got her message clearly.

This is why I don't deal with Uchihas, especially brats. Tsunade grumbled as she pulled away. "I see you're awake."

"Senju Tsunade." Fumiko forced herself to sit down, leaning on the hospital's headboard with Neji's help. "You owe me so much."

Tsunade sighed. "I know."

Sasuke frowned at his sister. How come the new Hokage owed his sister? As if knowing Sasuke's thought, Fumiko casted him a glance. "We'll talk later. I believe you still have patients waiting for you."

"That's right, baa-chan!" Naruto exclaimed. "Let's go to Kakashi sensei next!"

Tsunade looked down at Fumiko with a frown before leaving with a humph. Neji reached out to Fumiko's hand and held it gently. "How are you feeling, Fumiko-sama?"

The girl shrugged. "It's been alright. My big brother was just saying hi to me."

"Just saying hi?" Sasuke gritted his teeth. "He made me relieve the day he killed our clan. When he killed our parents. How could you—?"

"He made me relieve the day Shisui nii-san committed suicide and again and again I could not do anything about it." Fumiko answered blankly. "Your point?"

"My—wait, what?" Sasuke tilted his head in confusion. "I thought Itachi was the one who killed Shisui."

"He didn't." Fumiko glared her brother, which he gave her his famous glare too. This way, both Neji and Sakura noticed how the siblings looked really similar. "He committed suicide in front of me and Itachi nii-san. That's how the both of us got our Mangekyo."

Sasuke's eyes widened. "But Itachi said that in order to gain Mangekyo sharingan, you need to kill the closest person to you."

Fumiko was considering how to answer when two ROOT members showed up in front of her. Neji, Sasuke, and Sakura tensed immediately. Sasuke though recognized one of the ANBU as he was always with his sister.

"Taichou." Both of the ROOT greeted her.

"How's everything while I was out?" Fumiko asked seriously.

"Everything's under control." The taller ROOT reported. "We follow the instruction you left incase anything were to happen to you."

"Good." Fumiko looked visibly relaxed. "Who retrieved me from my brother?"

From her words, the genins perked up. She was being kidnapped by Itachi?! Sasuke thought.

"I did." The younger ROOT answered.

"Oh?" For the first time in a long time, Sasuke could see the flicker of affection in Fumiko's eyes. "And by giving up what information he let me go?"

"Fumiko-sama, how'd you know this ANBU didn't fight Uchiha Itachi instead?" Neji asked softly.

"Why, because he'd be dead if he faced my brother. The last time he faced Itachi left him in critical condition." Fumiko answered simply.

The three genins looked stunned by how easy Fumiko said those words. The taller ANBU then opened his mouth again. "Can we discharge you now?"

"Of course. I'd be in the base in a few." Fumiko nodded and the taller ANBU puffed away. The younger one though, stayed. Fumiko frowned. "What is it, Sai?"

The younger ANBU was hesitant for a bit before shaking his head. "No, nothing."

"Then, don't you have missions to do?"

Sai sighed, then was about to leave the room when Fumiko called him. "Oh, and Sai?"

"Ha'i?"

"You made a good decision. Arigato na."

The boy did not say anything as he walked out of the room. Nobody noticed, but a small smile graced his face. Neji, however, looked concern.

"Fumiko-sama, are you sure you're going back to work? You just woke up."

"I'd just sit on my desk, dealing with paperworks." She calmed him down. "Don't worry."

"Of course I'd be worry." Neji exclaimed. "You didn't come home the last time you went out and I found you being hospitalized next."

Fumiko gave him a gratitude look. "I promise I won't do any physical activity."

"But... alright." Neji nodded.

Fumiko tightened her grip on Neji's hand before letting go. She then stood up and came to his brother. Fumiko poked Sasuke's head, like what Itachi would, making the younger male widened his eyes.

"Come back to the compound tonight. I've moved back in, so is Neji in two years. You should too, since you're an Uchiha too."

Sasuke did not answer, and Fumiko did not wait for his answer. She then walked out the room with Neji, leaving Sasuke alone with his thought and his fangirl.

Sasuke's grip on his blanket tightened, making Sakura looked at him in worry. "Sasuke-kun..."
