After getting home I wanted nothing more than to fall asleep in Jace's bed, but when I entered his room, it was empty. I headed through my own door in confusion, only to go into cardiac arrest when I turned on the light and saw Jace lying under my duvet cover.

"A jump scare warning would've been nice," I said breathlessly with a hand to my chest.

"Not waking me up would've been nice," Jace mimicked, his sarcasm intact even in his sleepy state.

Knowing neither of us ever actually slept if we were alone, I rolled my eyes and started to get changed. My remaining anxiety still made me turn my back to him, but I was way more confident than before. When I remembered him kissing my scar and calling me perfect, I was both glad that he couldn't see my blush, and dumbfounded that I was now comfortable around the boy who used to make me feel the exact opposite. Once fully dressed I rotated back to face him, only to find his eyes trained on me above a lazy smirk. Of course he couldn't go a few minutes without being a perv. But then I looked down at his shirtless body and flattering sweatpants that framed his perfect v-line, and I mentally slapped myself as punishment for never realising how badly I wanted him before. His tousled bed hair and drowsy (but attractive) expression was genuinely irresistible, so when he beckoned to the empty space beside him, I turned off the light and practically scurried over. Infuriatingly, I never seemed to stay mad at him for long.

I shot under the covers so he wouldn't keep having eye-sex with my exposed legs and crawled up to bury my face shyly in his chest. He chuckled and tilted my chin upwards so he could see my flustered expression from where I was curled against his side. "Hey sleepyhead," I murmured, trying and failing to act normal.

"Hey yourself," he replied, his brown eyes shining with amusement. I would have slapped the smirk from his face if his voice hadn't been deeper and rougher from the time he'd spent almost falling asleep. It wasn't unattractive, I guess. I certainly wasn't clenching my thighs together from the tingle his low and husky tone sent down my body.

"Why're you in my bed anyway? I thought we switched to your room? You better not start collapsing on me in the middle of the night again."

"I'm not doing anyfin. Jus' smells like you..." he mumbled tiredly before yawning and smacking his lips together like a child. He'd never reminded me more of Lee in that adorable, unguarded moment. His eyes kept fluttering shut now that I was comforting him with my warmth, and I felt my heart skip a beat at the notion that he'd waited to sleep next to me so that neither of us had any bad dreams. And in my fantasy, he actually enjoyed sharing a bed too.

When he went quiet, I burrowed further into his bare chest and thought about the rest of my conversation with Beth before our friends came back to the car.

"Do you like someone?" She asked suddenly.

"Huh? Wh-where did you get that disturbed idea?"
