Hello my lovelies!

I hope you're all safe and healthy.

I've been literally dying since morning because I joined the wrong Zoom call for one of my classes. And I was there for a whole half hour before the teacher decided to call me out and say "Mia, you're not a student in my class are you?"

 and I was like 👁👄👁

SO EMBARASSING USGHAHGHJHGLL

Anyways lol, happy reading :)

Everest's POV

"Come on, live a little mate," Connor rolled his eyes, shoving me as we walked down to the conference room.

"Would you give it a rest?" I scowled, stumbling a little.

"You look like you're going into a meat grinding machine."

I gave him a look that immediately shut him up.

I was already stressed about this stupid meeting. Now I was desperately trying to back out of it but Connor refused to let me.

Things were getting out of hand.

Way, out of hand.

Flashback

I jumped as I heard footsteps by my door. Shoving the Harry Potter book under my pillow, I stood up quickly and sat by the window with my astronomy textbook.

"Your Highness, dinner is ready."

"Coming!"

Grabbing the green coloured book, I stuffed it into my bookshelf.

As I hurried to the dining hall, I could hear my parents voices travelling up the grand staircase.

"Liam! Have you gone mad? Do you even hear yourself?"

"Stop acting like I'm wrong. You know there's no other option."

"No oth- no. I will not allow this."

"Allow what?" I asked, coming into the dining room.

My parents sat at the far end of the table, their plates untouched.

"I'm not asking if you're allowing it or not. It's happening whether you like it or not."

"Uhh, what are we discussing?" I asked in confusion.

"Everest, I'm sure you're aware that your birthday is coming soon."

I smiled as I remembered how excited Aspen was that I was turning 18, even more than I was myself.

"Yes, what about it?"

"I believe you're ready."

"For....?"

"Fo-"

"Liam," my mother interrupted, giving him a stern look.

My eyes flicked between them, trying to understand what was happening.

"I'm passing on the Crown to you."

"What?"

"Once you turn 18, you will be taking my place."

"What? I never agreed to this. What about the Air Force and Flight school?"

My father laughed as if I'd said the funniest joke on the planet.
