[[ 69 DAYS BEFORE THE HEIST. ]]

[[ VERA. ]]

I leaned forward, hunched over as I snorted my third line of blissful white within the hour, perfectly aligned on the rectangular glass table. "Ah." I forcefully spoke the constricted word out as I exhaled sharply. I leaned back onto the velvet red sofa, scrunching my nose as I rubbed at it rapidly, feeling the slight pinch deeper within my nostril.

Glancing over at Carmen who sat next to me sipping on a beer as she had been delved into Sailor Moon playing on the television, I smiled slyly at her, cocking my head suggestively, feeling a zippy surge of tranquil adrenaline trickle in within my system from the past lines.

"Dude." She flatly said. "I'm good." She chuckled. "Never again, is my thing."

"Oh come on guys. Maxwell?" I glimpsed, turning over to Max who had just clouded up the tall bong, inhaling sharply and exhaling the smoke upwards. "Ace?"

"It's cool." Max shrugged, raising his eyebrows as he slightly coughed, leaning over as he giggled to himself. "We could swap." He had motioned with his fingers collectively in an oval formation.

"Hey, I'll like take a dab of that ivory powder. Buuut, just a dot." Ace nodded in compliance.

"We are the scientists of the future." Max glanced over at Ace who had been just as equally high as him.

"We indeed are." Ace emphasized, smiling lopsidedly as he wrapped an arm around his best friend's shoulders.

Harry had been at the desktop computer behind the sofa, scrolling on a webpage as he had killed a cigarette in the ashtray of a pile of cigarette butts.

Ace then sighed, heaving himself up as he had hopped over the couch to lean over the desktop table, to observe what Harry had been reading up on.

"What's all this, mate?" He asked Harry who had glanced up at him.

"Starlight Security, founded and established in 1992." He replied curtly.

"Who are these G.I. Joe blokes anyway, faceless? I've never seen a uniform in my life, do they even have a location?" Ace scoffed, tilting his head as he squinted his eyes at the bright screen.

"Top secret, I suppose. I've gone through heaps of articles within the past few hours, and it's fucking ridiculous, there just isn't a location dotted anywhere, neither are there pictures. Just the vans."

I watch Max try to hop over the couch, cutting it a bit short. He had tripped over, stumbling over it as he had knocked into Ace, setting his hands on his shoulders as he had gotten a look at the screen.
