"Father, I will step down as your successor." Nadia announced.

"...."

Archduke Valen looked at his daughter with a lazy stare.

"Doing this won't help you get engaged to the crown prince." He uttered.

"I won't be engaged! I know he's in love with someone else named Trisha and she's a princess! So I won't bother stepping into a mine. Also, you can adopt a son to be the next in line. I'm totally fine with it."

Nadia let her guard down. She needs to show that she had no bad intentions.

"Why are you doing this?" The Archduke sighed.

"Because-"

"Aside from being spoiled and useless, what can you possibly offer? Trouble?"

"...."

Nadia paused.

That's right. It's that look.

Her father always looked at her with an uncaring gaze.

Yes, she was born as an Augusten. She was treated as an Augusten. She lived a life like an Augusten.

But she was never the daughter that her father wanted.

It was like she was just there and became the Archduke's responsibility. Since she carries his blood.

Maybe that's the reason why he never batted an eye when she was getting executed.

Nadia grit her teeth. She calmed down and breathed deeply.

"Anyways, I already stated my intentions. I'll be leaving now." She bowed and left afterwards.

*Clack*

...

If being thrown with hurting words by her father is the way for her survival, then she'd accept it with all her heart.

Just so she wouldn't die again.

She touched her neck.

She couldn't believe that it was a sharp blade that separated her head from her body.

"It's fine. You'll be fine, Nadia. You'll survive."

*Grooowl*

"...."

'Let's eat first.'

Since it was a bit suffocating inside the mansion, Nadia decided to go out and eat somewhere else.

...

*Neigh*

The horses neighed and the carriage stopped.

An escort knight opened the carriage door for her and offered a hand.

Nadia finally got off.

She walked towards the restaurant and entered inside.

*Cling*

*Clang*

The windpipes chimed as she pushed the door.

She then stayed on a certain table that was near the corner.

A few seconds later, a waiter approached her and handed her the menu.

"I'll just have steak for the main course. And rice."

"Understood. Would you like some tea while waiting?"

"I'll appreciate that." She smiled.

"For a while."

The waiter left and Nadia leaned back on the chair.
