It was cold.
The morning in the beaches of Vermilion City was cold...and also lonely. That was a perfect combination for Ash's early morning training area. If he was his younger self, he would have preferred to train in a place with more people. However, now that he was getting older, Ash found a deeper appreciation for the calmness and sometimes liked to be alone.
He still preferred being surrounded by his friends. However, he didn't mind being alone sometimes like he used to.
"Pikachu, use Thunderbolt!" Ash commanded as the rodent unleashed a carnage of lighting, decimating the boulders in front of them and making the sand fly over the beach. The nearby Wingulls flew away in fear, causing Ash to apologise to them.
"Fhew....I think that should be enough for today." Ash said before wiping the sweat from his forehead. It's been two hours since Ash and Pikachu were training. "Let's head back to the lab buddy."
Equally exhausted as its trainer Pikachu nodded before hopping onto Ash's shoulder. As they were walking down the roads, Ash couldn't help but remember what Lugia said to him yesterday.
"I wonder....." Ash glanced at the distance before narrowing his eyes in deep thought. What did Lugia mean?

In Cerise Laboratory, Goh was still sleeping, having dreams about how he would catch Mew. Suddenly Goh's alarm went on. Goh's phone started to ring, finally waking him up.
"Yawn.....Good Morning to me." Goh said in between yawns as he stretched his arms. He changed his pyjamas and decided to go downstairs. There he met none other than Chole's mom, Talia. Talia noticed Goh, so she greeted him.
"Good morning, Goh. Did you sleep well?" Talia asked with a bright smile.
"Y-Yeah, good morning, Mrs.Sakuragi! I did sleep well!" Goh remarked.
"That's a relief. I was worried if the rooms weren't yours and Ash's liking. But it seemed like both of you were comfortable with your rooms." Talia remarked happily.
"Now that you mentioned it, where is that guy?" Goh asked a little nervously. He did felt bad for saying all that stuff to Ash, especially after what happened in the stadium.
"Oh Ash, well he and his Pikachu went to the beach to train early morning." She answered him.
"I see. I guess I should go and get ready." Goh stated, shaking his head. He didn't want to think about that stuff at the moment.
...
Goh came out of the bathroom, being completely fresh. Deciding that he should have his breakfast, Goh went to the kitchen where he saw that Ash was there having his breakfast with Pikachu. This got him a little tense.
"Oh, good morning, Goh!" Ash flashed a toothy smile. Goh flinched but decided to respond anyway.
"Y-Yeah, good morning." Goh replied with a shaky tone. He silently took his food and decided to eat it. But the silence between the two of them felt really awkward. Goh decided to risk it and start a conversation.
