A day has passed since the 'Dynamax Incident' as people dubbed it occurred in Motostoke. Nobody knew what caused all those Pokémons to Dynamax, and the police were trying their hardest to find the root of it. Unfortunately, they haven't found anything yet.
Today, though, our heroes were going to the small town of Wedgehurst in the southern part of the Galar region. The one who was taking them there in her car was none other than Sonia accompanied by Hop. From what they have learned till now, Wedgehurst was a rural town that mostly depended on the farms and the goods they sold. Another thing this town was famous for and the main reason Ash, Goh, and Chole were heading there was because it was the hometown of the leading researcher of Dynamax...Professor Magnolia
"So what kind of person is Professor Magnolia?" Goh asked, deciding to start a conversation. They had been going silently in the car for a while now.
"Who gran...Well if I were to be honest, she is a difficult person to deal with, but she is also very caring." Sonia replied as she took a sharp turn. "She always tells weird things in riddles that nobody understands, but from inside of her heart, she only tries to help others."
"I see."
"Say, Hop, what was the reason you wanted to meet Professor Magnolia?" Ash asked the purple-haired boy.
"Oh me, I am just here for plot convenience."
"What?"
"I mean my Pokédex accidentally broke when we were battling Obstagoon. Now I am heading back to get a new one from Professor Magnolia. She was pretty mad at me though for breaking it." Hop replied, whispering the last part to himself.
"Why don't you just download the feature on your phone?" Ash asked, confused by Hop since people could now gain all the perks of a Pokédex by just downloading the app.
"I can do that, but Professor Magnolia won't be happy about this. When she gave me my trainer licence, she was adamant about the fact that I should only use her more 'traditional' version of Pokédex. That will help me become more responsible." Hop sighed with an annoyed tone.
"Guess she wasn't wrong, though, given you broke your Pokédex," Sonia mocked him teasingly, making Hop wince as the others laughed a little.
"Come on." Hop winced a little.
By now, the group had finally entered Wedgehurst. There wasn't anything special in the town for them to marvel at aside from maybe the somewhat big market and the farms. Sonia drove the car to the eastern part of the city before they reached the lab. Sonia parked the car as they got up from the lab. The lab itself was a fairly large building with a purple roof and white exterior. The group entered the lab, only for a yellow blur to blitz, pass them, and tackle Sonia. Much to their surprise, Sonia hugged the yellow blur. The yellow blur was then revealed to be Yamper, Sonia's pet.
"Ahaha....Stop it Yamper, it's tickling me." Sonia laughed as Yamper continuously licked her.
"Is that Yamper yours?" Chole asked, slightly interested in it.
