8. Her sweet voice

It's Sid and Aarav's hostel room. Too good to be true, I know but it's fiction, so it's okay.

Sid's POV

After our shopping, we went back to the hostel and freshened up. As we were leaving, Aarav's phone rang. It was an unknown number. He picked it up immediately. As he was talking, I started arranging my books which were lying on the study table. A few minutes later, someone knocked on our door. Aarav opened the door and greeted the guy with a handshake. He's Siya's friend. What is he doing here?

"Sid, he's Raghav. Siya's friend." Aarav told me.
"Hey Raghav. What's up?" I asked him.
"Hi Siddhant, actually my roommate hasn't arrived yet. And I was bored alone. So Siya gave me Aarav's phone number and suggested that I should hang out with you guys. I hope you don't mind." He said politely.

"Ofcourse we don't mind. You're most welcome." I said and gave him a small smile. I usually don't like people invading my privacy but Raghav seems to be a good person.

"That's great. Thanks guys. I think we should head towards the canteen and have our dinner together. " Raghav said and we nodded.

We had our dinner and went back to our room. We chatted for a while but just then, Raghav's phone rang and he picked it up.
"Hello Siya, what's up?" He said and hearing Siya's name, my attention diverted towards him and his conversation. Is she that close to him? I kind of felt jealous of him. "Okay wait, I'll give the phone to Aarav." Raghav said and passed the phone to Aarav.

Why does she want to talk to Aarav now?
Aarav understood what was going on in my mind and he put the phone on speaker.
"Hey Siya," he said.
"Hi, actually Raghav was bored alone so I gave him your contact number. I know I should have asked you but it totally slipped out of my mind. I hope you don't have any problem." She said in her sweet voice. I was dying to listen to her voice again.

"Not at all Siya. Infact, I'm glad you gave him my number. I've got a new friend." Aarav said excitedly.
"That's good. And what about your roommate Siddhant? Is he okay with it?"
My name sounds so good in her voice.
Aarav shook my shoulder and indicated me to reply and I did.
"Siya, I don't have any problem." I said nervously but atleast I didn't stutter.
"Oh, the phone was on speaker. Okay, that's great. Um goodnight." She said.
Aarav and Raghav wished her good night and she hung up the call.

"Raghav, is Siya single?" Aarav asked out of nowhere. "Yes, she's single but why are you asking? Wait.... Do you like her?" Raghav asked curiously.

"No no, I was just asking for a friend." Aarav said looking at me but Raghav didn't understand that and he just nodded.

"And what about Swati? Is she single?" Aarav asked again. Raghav raised an eyebrow and asked, "Are you again asking for a friend?" Raghav's statement made me laugh and Aarav was taken aback. Raghav laughed too and replied, "Yes, she's single too."

"Yeah right and who's gonna date such an arrogant woman like her?" Aarav said again trying to act cool and all.

"She's not arrogant. She's just an introvert. Otherwise she's very sweet okay!" Raghav replied taking a sip of water from his bottle.

"Oh, do you by any chance like any of them?" Aarav asked and I looked at Raghav with curiosity. Raghav literally choked on the water and I rubbed his back. Once he was back to normal, he replied, "Both of them are like my sisters, duh! I can never think about them in that way."

His reply was a relief to my anxious mind. Aarav too smiled at his reply.

After a while Raghav left and I laid down on my bed but I was lost in her thoughts.
This was my first time talking to her. Even if it was just a few words, it felt good. Her sweet voice was ringing in my ears and as I closed my eyes, her smiling face appeared infront of my eyes and automatically a smile made its way on my face............
