Jax POV

Of all the days, why does THIS have to be the one where I have to participate?

Valentine's Day...

Maybe if I can actually act like I'm really sick, Caine won't likely force me into this event. Let alone force me to actually do an event just to make myself sane. But seeing the others making a fool of themselves so I can get a laugh out, that would be worth it.

Despite it all, at least there was this one person I would pick on less. Only because they don't get a reaction out of me and can only respond by being sassy. Or was it the term, all bark and no bite? Yeah, that's it.

That person was Y/N. There was something about them that I couldn't describe...

Ever since they first arrived here, they seemed cold and distant on the outside but whenever someone is in need of help or needs a task done, they'll do all heavy lifting like no problem. Most of that heavy lifting was from me pranking others. I just don't get it...

Even despite them cleaning up after my messes, they don't hold a grudge against me. Not sure about the other circus crew but at least Y/N understands or at least I think they do.

I sighed, shaking my head from these thoughts. But no matter how hard I try to shake it off, I can't seem to help but remember the other adventures I shared with Y/N. Even when we were in danger, they stepped in to fight against our enemies with no fear, no doubt or any signs of holding back. Meanwhile here I was doing absolutely nothing about it. Yes, I got a scolding not only from Caine but a few others as well but do I give two shits about it?

It did leave my mind boggling all day on why Y/N would rescue me after I was being an ass to everyone. Do they...still give me a chance or even a second one as well?

My thoughts were cut short when all of us got teleported by force to the stage of the circus itself. Oh boy, can't wait to see what this lack of intelligence this guy has got for us...

Caine: "Hello and Happy Valentine's Day everyone!" Caine said while wearing a ridiculous Cupid outfit. Each of us stared at him weirdly or just blankly with no reaction whatsoever. That mostly is from me of course. "What? Is there something in my face?"

Y/N: "No but...what's with the outfit?" They shrugged while holding one hand up.

Caine: "It's for the best holiday to ever be celebrated of course! Didn't you notice the decorations?" He gestured to the pink, red and white balloons along with streamers and all other sorts of decor to resemble "love".

"Actually, no, we didn't because everything else is super colorful instead of the usual shades of pink and red for this kind of event."

Caine: "Well silly me, I probably should have made it more obvious!" He snapped his fingers, changing the area to set up more decor, plushies and all sorts of fun games for us to hide our time with.

Pomni: "Uh...is all that really necessary?" She asked Caine.

Caine: "Why of course! What better way to celebrate Valentine's than with your good friends?! And who knows, maybe a special Valentine?"
