From one night stand to happily ever after

Lauren's POV

I had my normal call with gabe on Sunday and told him how things are going but I seriously miss him I need my big brothers hugs but I get it I get he's busy with hockey and school and such. He told me how his game went like he said he would and I was happy they won I wished I could watch his games I always loved watching him play before he moved away and it's not like he moved away super far he was just a town away but since I don't drive it was far enough. The school week was almost over now and of course I already had a party for this weekend to attend so I was counting down the minutes I needed my escape but instead of the bell ringing and keeping things moving my phone went off and I saw it was my moms nurse so I motioned to the phone then to the door to my teacher and she nodded letting me be excused to take it. My teachers all knew of the situation for times like this so I was always able to stay up to date with the nurse.
L- hello
Angela- hi Lauren I'm so sorry to disturb you at school and I'm so sorry to have to share the news this way but your mom has passed away
L- what happened just this morning everything was still stable
Angela- her heart gave out I'm so sorry sweetheart
The tears were rolling down my face as she proceeded to tell me how they will get everything set in place as for the funeral and everything since we had started putting together the plans when things first started going downhill. We didn't want to be right but we wanted to be prepared
L- have you talked to my brother about all this
Angela - yes I did I talked to him right before you as he is the older one and he said he was going to finish up the class he was in at the moment then he would be heading down
L- ok thank goodness well I'm going to finish the last period I have left then I'll be home
Angela- of course
We hung up and I did my best to try to breathe and relax before heading back inside . I went straight to my desk and sat down never looking up at anyone and focused on finishing my work every now and then a tear dropping on the paper. When the bell finally rang my teacher stopped me on the way out checking on me
MrsH- what did the nurse say
L- my mom is gone
MrsH- oh honey I'm so sorry
L- thank you it's going to be tough but I'll get through it one way or another
She gave me a hug then I grabbed my things from my locker and headed home. On the walk home I texted destini telling her I'm no longer going to the party tonight and that my mom passed so I was going to be busy this weekend with Gabe so she offered her condolences and told me she's always here for me me and sent me hugs which made me smile . Once I walked up the driveway gabe pulled up so I waited for him to get out of the car and he immediately pulled me to him for a hug and I broke down
L- this is such bullshit gabe why did she have to leave us
G- at least she's at peace now sis
L- I know but it's still hard
G- I know sis I know
I cried more and more and eventually we went inside and we talked with angela trying to get everything squared away and in the midst of it all I realized what's going to happen to me now I'm still a minor and it's like gabe read my mind.
G- since I'm a legal adult am I allowed to have her in my custody and be her legal guardian from now on
A- since you're over 18 yes you are
G- thank goodness
L- will your roommates even be ok with that
G- I'm sure they will but if worst comes to worst I'll make them be ok with it
L- oookk
We finished getting everything taken care of and the funeral would take place in a few weeks but I was to start packing as soon as possible and we went to the school be for the office closed to talk about getting me signed over for online classes and thankfully we were able to do that without difficulty cause I really didn't want to transfer to a new school I didn't want to be the new girl I mean I still would be in the town but at school would be worse. When we got home I started packing while he called his roommates I knew one I knew Dalton while the other I had no clue about I knew it was another teammate his captain actually but that's all I knew so he was the main one I wasn't sure being ok with me moving in with them but gabe came in telling me they were good with me living with them and that he ordered pizza for dinner . I know it's going to to be tough moving away and getting through losing mom but I gotta say I am happy to get to be back around gabe from this point on!
