Chapter 14: Is this love? Part II

Mae's memory

She found herself standing in front of another woman, she was dressed in a victorian dress, the woman was speaking to her in a soft tone.

--"If there ever comes a day when you find a being that you feel you can trust your whole being into, that makes you feel good, that spoils you, that takes care of even the stupid little details and that makes your heart stop aching when sad, and sometimes make it ache with joy then that, that's what we humans call love" the woman said softly

--"And what if that being never comes? Maybe i'll be alone for the entirety of my existence" Mae replied in the memory

--"Keh heh, that being will come, or maybe it won't be one and it will be two, but more times than not it's just one, and you'll remember my words when you find him, dear" said the woman with a smile, the aroma of sweet tea hitting Mae's nose as she chuckled slightly

--"Sure, all those humans and beings want is to use me due to my nature, i'll be surprised if i ever meet something that doesn't simply use me and then toss me aside like dirt" Mae replied in a cynical tone

--"You'll see yourself acting like a lovebird like me with my dear John one day, just wait since you have all the time in the world" Said the woman as she looked at Mae

Back in reality

Mae started laughing as she threw herself at Abel, having recovered 2 parts of her memory made the happy one overpower the sad one, as she hugged Abel and clinged to him she laughed, seemingly finding it funny

--"Damn you Eleanor, you were right" she said as she kept giggling and laughing, causing Abel to look at her like she grew a second head

--"Something seems to have gotten to you, what's it?" Abel asked as he adjusted himself to sit up besides Mae, who seemed ecstatic as she held Abel's face and then looked into his eyes, making him shut up and sending his mind into overdrive, making him start thinking 'Is she going to? Is it a new memory? It must be a new memory, but why? Emotional shock? Distress maybe? What i promised her? Maybe a familiar sensation? Eleanor? Maybe someone she met long ago? were some of the questions he was asking himself as Mae looked deeply into his eyes

--"I just remembered something someone told me once, an old friend perhaps" Mae said as she kissed Abel's forehead, making him blush

--"And what is it?" Abel asked as he tried, and failed, to keep a straight face, having a mix of surprise and a dumb little smile on his face, he felt his heart skipping a beat the moment Mae kissed his forehead.

--"She told me once that when i find the being or beings that make me happy, that takes care of even the small and silly things to make me smile and that i liked so much it ached then that meant that i would know what you humans describe as love" Mae said between giggles, her personality had changed ever so slightly, at least that was what Abel could sense from her, maybe it was the endorphins rushing through her system as a response to her unlocking that part of her memories or because she was regaining herself slightly

--"I... Uh... I... Um..." Abel didn't know what to say, he couldn't say anything, his mind had crashed and he could not express any coherent thoughts about this entire situation as he stared at Mae like a cat that overdosed on catnip

--"Shh shh" Mae shushed him as she returned to hugging him, rubbing her face against his slightly as she did so, meanwhile Abel was still frozen, his mind reduced to a bunch of nonsense as he simply returned the hug, and after a bit he sighed deeply and decided to go with it

--"So, what now?" Abel asked as he looked at her with the same eyes of a mesmerized dog that looks at its loving owner

--"You tell me" Mae said as she let go of him and laid back down on the bed
