Cassidy's pov

Thanksgiving Day

ryan had been acting odd since I got back. he's just been in his own little world. God, there's nothing I wouldn't give to know what's going on in his brain. I invited him and Reyna over for thanksgiving since it turned out his father would be working majority of the day anyway. my father always made enough to feed a whole village so I knew it would be no trouble. Reyna and my sister Cassandra were besties just like ryan and I. not that they were dating but because they had known each other basically their whole lives because of us. it was no problem convincing Reyna to come. ryan was a little more reluctant but he knew his sister would give him shit about it if they didn't come.

he had texted me in the afternoon letting me know he was on his way, I was nervous to see him. I wasn't sure why but it could be because he was criticizing me a lot recently. it's like he got accustommed to a different life in just the 5 months since I had last seen him.

"daughter, that little boy is here with his sister. come on before I get the urge to slap him." my dad whisper yells to me.

my dad hates Ryan. he hated him when he found out we were dating, I always told him Ryan wasn't into me that way but he was, I just didn't know. I walk out of my room to the front door where Ryan is standing.

"hi baby." I smile from ear to ear, pulling him into a hug by his neck.

"hey." he slightly bends down, patting my back.

weird.

"hey Reyna." I hug the young girl

"hey girl, wheres-" she was cut off by my younger sister who came and grabbed her by the arm, dragging her to God knows where.

"hey, come here. I wanna ask you something." I gesture him towards the direction of my room, he drags his feet as he follows.

"what?" he says, short and cold.

"what the fuck is wrong with you?" I ask him, pushing him back a little bit.

"there's nothing wrong with me but there will be if you push on me like that again." he makes eye contact with me, his eyes are red as a beet.

"are you high? in front of my fucking dad?" I slightly raise my voice, causing him to jump a little bit.

"i- yeah a little bit." he attempts to lie but clearly he couldn't.

"ryan whats been going on with you? it feels like I'm dating a completely different person these days. it feels like you're not happy with me. and when we're together, you want to be somewhere else or with someone else." I look at him and his eyes shifted onto mine with that last line.

"woah chill. I've just been dealing with so much stress from everyone and everything. I want to be done with this semester." he says, resting his hand on my cheek. "I'm sorry if I've been making you feel this way. you know better than anyone how stressed I can get."

"i- I know. I'm sorry. I've just been freaking out. we spend so much time apart, I just don't want you going and falling out of love with me." I feel the tears welling up in my eyes, causing on to fall. it didn't go unnoticed, as it fell onto his finger.

"that's never gonna happen. you've been my one and only since kindergarten, why else did you think you were the only one I shared my birthday candy with every year?" he placed a kiss on my lips, wiping away my tears and the worries I initially had.

"promise me you'll be okay?" i wrapped my arms around his neck, his fall around my waist, like usual.

"I promise." he kissed me again, this time forcing his tongue into my mouth.
