Tweleve-Bones Just Doesn’t Give Up

I yawn. “I’m tired.”

“I wish I knew what tired felt like.” Edward sighs.

I roll my eyes. “Trust me, it’s a bad feeling.” He chuckles, stretching out his arms and sprawling his legs over the couch. “Hey, Edward?”

“Yes?”

“Do you think Bones will attack during the night?”

He hesitates for a minute. “I don’t think so. If he does, we’re right here.” He motions to his brothers, who are glued to the TV watching football. Edward doesn’t like football, so he’s talking to me instead.

I chuckle. “Not even an earthquake will get them out of that trance.”

He raises an eyebrow. “I bet I can get them outta the trance. If I win, you give me a dollar. If I lose, I give you a dollar. Deal?”

I think for a moment. “Sure.” We shake hands.

“You asked for it.” He smirks then turns to his brothers, who aren’t even spearing him a glance. He yells at the top of his lungs, “NORA’S STRIPPING!”

All heads go snapping to me, making my mouth pop open. “Edward!”

He bursts out laughing, clutching his side and rolling around on the couch. “O-oh my God! Your face! Y-your face was p-priceless!”

Clinton frowns. “Your not stripping.” Charles growls at his brother. What? Is he jealous?

I glare at him. “No. And I never will.”

“You owe me a dollar, Nora!” Edward sings, dancing around me in a circle. I push him out of the way, reaching into my pocket.

“Here. You didn’t have to say I was stripping!”

He smirks evilly. “Ah, but that’s the only way to get their attention. That and food.”

I roll my eyes. “Typical boys. Women and food, that’s all you ever think about.”

Edward pokes my side. “I have a question. You asked me about Anna, so now I get to ask about your love life. Anybody special?”

I sigh, and think for a moment. I see in the corner of my eye Charles is waiting for an answer. “Taylor Launter. He’s got a rockin bod.”

Edward rolls his eyes. “Seriously.”

“I’m flying solo.” I smile sadly. “But I’m cool with it. I can live without love.” Charles looks relived and happy at the same time, which is confusing me more than ever. I yawn again. “Tiredness is coming over me.”

Edward nods. “Charles the stalker. I repeat, Charles the stalker, please guide Nora to her bedroom. Thank you.” He says into his hand which he’s using like a walkie-talkie.

Charles groans. “The game is on!” He points to the TV.

“Fine. I’ll just go by myself. I don’t need some babysitter following me just so I can sleep.” I stand up and head towards the door, but a hand grabs my wrist before I can move. I look up to see Charles narrowing his eyes at me.

“I’m coming.”

I roll my eyes, then turn towards the brothers. “Night guys.”

“Night Nora!” They chirp.

We both go up to my prison cell and I grab a tank top and some shorts and change in the bathroom. When I get out I see Charles in the chair, with the TV on to the football game, his eyes glued to it. I snuggle into my bed, sighing happily. I roll over so I have a vision of Charles. “Wake me up if something bad happens.”

He looks at me. “When you say ‘bad’ does that count as the Steelers losing the game?”

I groan. “No! That means if Bones comes. And I’m the stupid human.” I mutter.

He smirks. “Night Nora.”

“Good night.” I close my eyes and let sleep take over me.

A loud crash in my room makes me wake up, and my breathing stop. What the hell was that? Maybe it was my imagination…

I hear another crash, confirming this isn’t a dream. Oh God, where’s Charles? The lights flick on and I see Scar, who’s grinning evilly. “My dear, we meet again…”

I throw the blankets off me. “Stay the hell away from me.” I growl.

“Right.” He rolls his eyes sarcastically. “I just came in here for some chips.” In two seconds his arms are pulling me off the bed.

“Get off!” I scream, trying to twist my arm out of his grasp. Useless.

“Shut up!” He hisses. I kick him in the shin, making him howl, dropping my arm. “You’ll pay for that, bitch.”

My eyes widen. “Bitch? Oh hell no.” I grab some hair on his head and pull. He howls again, making me smirk. “Don’t ever call me a bitch!”

“Enough playtime!” He growls, and the next thing I know his hands are around my neck, cutting off my airline. My eyes water and I start gasping.

“L-let go…” I choke out, trying to pry his fingers off. Again, useless.

“Weak human.” He spits, laughing evilly.

The door swings open to reveal Charles, and his eyes rage with hate when he see’s Scar. In seconds, Scar’s on the ground, Charles punching him repeatedly while I gasp for breath, rubbing my neck. Bastard.

Charles sees me and runs towards me, forgetting all about Scar. He picks me up and sets me gently on the bed, then turns back to Scar, who’s gotten off the ground.

“Leave Nora alone.” Charles puts his arms out in front of me protectively.

Scar laughs darkly. “You think those three little words have an affect on me?”

Charles growls and lunges for him, but he steps out of the way, sending Charles into the ground. Scar then speeds up next to me. “I’ll be back for you.” He whispers in my ear, making me flinch. Then he’s gone, out through my window.

Charles growls. “That bastard!” He pulls me into a hug, tangling his hands in my hair. “Are you ok? I leave for a minute to go to the bathroom and you cause a huge mess.” He chuckles a little bit.

I smile, trying to reassure him I’m fine. “I’m ok.”

“What did he do?” He pulls out of the hug, looking me in the eyes with a warming feeling.

“Well, he pulled me off the bed and I kicked him in the shin, then he called me a bitch. So, I pulled his hair, and then he started to choke me.” I rub my neck, trying to shake out the images. Charles pulls me back into a hug, sending his aftershave and mint smell to surge through me.

“I’m so sorry. I should’ve never left. It’s my fault, I-”

“Charles.” I snap sternly. “It’s not your fault. I’m fine, that’s what matters.”

He breaths in my smell, savoring the hug. We hear a crash downstairs, making me jump. Charles groans silently. “Stay here.”

I nod, but I cross my fingers behind my back. There’s no way I’m staying here alone, again. We already saw what happened when that happened. Charles goes downstairs and I hear another crash, that’s when I decide to go down.
