Utter controversy had broken out the minute Kiora proclaimed that the 3 of us had to join her on her dangerous quest that could probably result in the death of all of us, especially if the rumors about that place were to be true.

When Kiora had announced it, Larcelle and Suada stood in shock for a moment before bursting out on her, calling her names that all revolved around the meaning of crazy.

I was the only one who kept silent, unable to speak.

I would say that the voices that didn't fail to skyrocket after Kiora's announcement, but of course I would be lying.

As much as I wanted to move my tongue and beg her that what she was planning was dangerous probably too dangerous beyond their understanding, I was inarticulate, and something tells me it wasn't because of my control.

The minute I got dropped off at my house, I instantly rushed inside, unable to even thank Kiora, Suada and Larcelle for walking me home, primarily because the 3 of them were still busy arguing and spewing fire, almost to a point that I was surprised that Kiora hadn't punched any of them in the face yet.

Once I enter the house, I was quick to lean lazily against the door as it closed, exhaustion weighing me down like a wet rag as my head collides against the wooden frame.

Just feeling the door shut behind me, was enough to make me close my eyes, a heavy breath that I must've been holding in throughout the entire stroll seeping out of my mouth.

We'll be waiting for you at the door.

"Shut up," I whisper, my voice tremulous.

"Uh, and who exactly is that directed to?"

My eyelids tear open in an instant when I hear the words of whoever spoke trail into the entryway, before I rip my back away from the door, paranoia snatching me without any hesitance.

It didn't fail to swell when the next thing that came in contact with my eardrums was the sounding of footsteps kissing the ground.

I didn't even realize I was choking the knob of the door until the coolness of the metal slowly began to grow heated until the point it was almost scorching.

My eyes stay drilled on the entrance, preparing to come in contact with another creature even more demonic and spine-chilling than the one I spotted on the other side of the road that excelled at triggering my heart to leap from instantaneous fear.

"Lilith, I believe it's you that I'm addressing, you think I don't recognize your footsteps when you enter this house?"

Before I could even register the recognition of the voice, instead of seeing what I anticipated I end up gazing upon a middle-aged woman with mixed skin who had apparently popped her head from behind the door of the entryway, her curly black hair that surfaced her scalp held up in a neat ponytail that was swept down on her shoulder.

I noticed she wore an apron glazed with food crumbs and smears and just from gazing at it caused me to pick up a scent I hadn't noticed that triggered my stomach to growl viciously.

I let out a soft breath of relief when I see another familiar face, this face particularly my favorite one.

"Aunt El, uh . . . sorry I. . . wasn't addressing that to you." I say calmly.

She snorts humorously, "Then I assume it was your-acquaintances." she eyes the door in emphasis.

I assume she must have seen the look on my face because she doesn't hesitate to  chuckle after her assumption is made.

"I heard the bickering." I nod slowly.

"Figures," I mumble.

I slowly slip off my shoes and adjust the strap of my backpack on my shoulder and head towards my aunt when she beckons me with her hand to exit the entryway.
